1122 Words
INTELLIGENT MATE Benjamin's P O V : I was feeling nothing but excitement. After all these years, I finally found my mate. A person who was created only for me. Even though I hoped my mate would be a super natural, I guess I had to work with what the Moon Goddess gave me. I was the king of Werewolves, a handsome Casanova, a billionaire. I was like a dream guy of any creature. There was no way my mate could not find an Alpha like me who was so interesting and intriguing. I was confident enough that my mate would accept me the moment I propose to him. I was lost in my own thoughts when my phone rang. I picked it up and found out it was just the person I was looking for, the Principal of Ulrich University. " Hello " I said. " Yes, my lord. As per your order, I already sent you an email containing every information we had on Jonathon Smith " , he said from the other side. " Thank you so much " I said to him and hung up. I quickly went through my phone and opened the email. After reading everything, I felt sad. My mate lost his parents when he was only five years old. Since then, he has been living with his grandparents. His entire life he worked really hard and he was always an A-grade student. He mostly completed his education through hard work and scholarships. In fact, he was enrolled in Ulrich with the help of scholarships. Their father left them some savings and, apart from that, they had a bakery shop which both my mate and his grandparents manage. " Our mate had a rough time growing up ", Allister said in my head. " Indeed, buddy. But he does not need to face any hardships now. We are here for him. ", I said to my wolf and felt him agreeing with me. After a shower, I made my breakfast, nothing fancy but sandwiches and freshly squeezed orange juice. After breakfast, I headed out in my suit and headed towards the university. On my way I kept thinking how fate was always changing and we were just some mere puppets in her hand. Yesterday I was feeling irritated and kept thinking about how to ditch the event, but that event gave my life a whole other meaning, as it led me to my mate. Now I was on the same road, going to the same place with nothing but love and excitement in my heart. Alistair started purring and howling when I arrived at the university. I was safely escorted to the principal's chamber by one of the assistance professors. " What can I do for you my lord ? ", the principal asked me. " Well, I was thinking of going to every class and encouraging the students on a more informal basis ", I said. " That will be quite nice, my lord ", he said, and both of us first went to the werewolf's faction. Every wolf cheered as soon as they saw me. Even though I was there for my own selfish reasons, still interacting and shaping the young ones was kind of a king's duty and I never ever neglected my duty. After my inspirational speech, I visited different factions and told them what they needed to hear. They were the future after all and I always treated the young ones with the utmost respect and love. Finally, it was time for humans. I stepped into my mate's class in between a lecture. Everyone stood up to see me but my eyes were searching for only one person and they lit up when they found him. I saw a girl dragging my mate to stand up. " Sit down everyone ", I said, and all of them sat down. " In case you do not remember him, he is Landon Wolfric Ulrich, king of Werewolves. Like you, he was also a student here and after meeting so many gifted young ones yesterday, he specially came here to encourage each and every one of you ", the principal said, and everyone started giving me a round of applause. I looked at the board and saw I had interrupted a mathematics lecture. " Math . . huhh . . one of my favorite subjects ", I thought inside my head. " I met so many talented young ones yesterday. So which of you can tell me who discovered Zero ? ", I asked them, my voice loud and clear and booming like thunder in the room. I heard the chatter and saw some raised hands. Fortunately, one of them was my mate, but I did not intend to be obvious, so I asked another student. " Mayans, the people of Mesopotamia discovered Zero ", he said proudly, and I gave him a round of applause. " Very good, but however, your answer is partially correct. Is here anyone who can rectify this ? " I asked. I saw some confused faces again. I roamed my eyes and saw this time only a handful of students raised their hands and my mate was one of them. " You ", I said, pointing at him. " It is true that the Mayans discovered Zero as a placeholder, but they never used Zero in any mathematical calculations. Brahmagupta and later Aryabhatta of India, developed and used it in calculations ", he said, his voice filled with confidence. I gave him a round of applause and he was about to sit, but I had another question in my mind and I wanted to know if my mate could answer it or not. " One more question, can you tell me what is the significance of Zero ? ", I asked him. I watched him intently and saw him twitching his eyebrows. After a minute, he looked at me with a smile. " Zero can mean so many things. For instance, it is impossible to do any calculations and solve bigger problems without using zero. Second, it also symbolizes a great deal of perception and perspective. It is in-between something negative and positive, indicating a clean state for a fresh start ", he said. Soon the entire class gave him a round of applause and I could not help but feel proud of my mate. " That is one heck of an intelligent answer ", Allister said in my mind. " Indeed it is ", I replied to him. After our little game of questions and answers, I left them for their lecture and went out. I spent some time in the principal's office before heading home.
