Chapter 3 : My Human Mate

My Human Mate

Landon's P O V :

I woke up feeling great. For some reason, both me and my wolf Allister were happy today. I could feel it in my bones that something very good was going to happen. I brushed my teeth, finished my morning routine and took a thorough shower. I came out wearing a towel and started drying my hair with another towel. Suddenly, my phone rang and I saw it was my beta, Alex Featherstone.

" What's up bro " I asked him.

Even though he was like seventy years younger than me, I always treated him as a brother and as a friend instead of a subordinate.

" Don't bro me. You have a function to attend " he said.

" What ? What function ? " I asked him. I did not remember anything about attending a function.

" The Ulrich University in our town is arranging a function to inspire and encourage gifted young ones. They already talked about being the chief guest, almost about two weeks ago " he said annoyedly.

I tried hard to remember and it still didn't ring a bell.

" I do not remember this " I said to him and heard him sigh in annoyance.

" Okay, okay, I will go. When do I have to leave ? " I asked again.

" Before Ten O' clock " he said and hung up. I immediately called my two trusted warriors to accompany me. After making sure my hair was dry, I put on a black suit with a white shirt and white shoes. They met at the castle and all of us left. We had breakfast on our way to the university. I arrived at college and felt nothing but nostalgic. I studied in this same place back when I was in college. At that point, I decided to fund this college for every gifted werewolf. Later, many students from different species joined and now this was a neutral ground for both humans and supernatural species. The college principal welcomed me whole heartedly and took me to his office. Everyone was busy with the preparations. So he left me in his office, promising someone would be here soon if I needed help with anything. There was still some time left for the event to start. I looked around and saw photos of all the principals. There was a special board featuring the gifted ones from every year. I felt surreal seeing all this.

" This brings back a lot of memories " I said to my wolf Allister.

" You bet, it does " Allister said.

I heard someone knocking on the door, so I allowed to come in.

" Do you need any kind of help, my lord ? " I heard the person ask, and I turned my head. I took a whiff and found out she was a vampire. She had a perfect figure, a nice complexion and two very big personalities.

" What can you help me with, young one ? " I asked her in a seductive tone.

" Whatever you need, my lord " she whispered, flashing her big personalities. Her offer was tempting and I was not the one to miss a chance of having fun, but we were in the principal's office and the event would start soon. I was not the kind of person to satisfy that easily. I could last hours without having an orgasm. Even though I wanted to take her down right now, I knew this was not possible.

" Laters baby " was all I could say to her.

" Do you need anything else, my lord ? " She asked.

" Yes, fetch me a bottle of water. I am feeling a little parched. " I said to her and she nodded her head and then left. After a few minutes, she came with a bottle of water. I finished the entire bottle in a chug and resumed looking around. About twenty minutes later, a professor came and told me it was time. I made my way towards the ground. Everything was decorated nicely. From the flowers to tables to chairs, everything looked beautiful. I greeted everyone and took my seat. Soon after, students came and the whole ground was filled. I could hear their chatter and laughter and smiled seeing so many young faces. A strong breeze of wind flowed and my nose caught a faint smell. A smell of forest after the first rain, a smell of nature. The event started and the principal started giving his speech. When the next breeze flew, the scent was much stronger and it made my wolf Allister agitated.

" Allister, what's happening ? " I asked him.

" You i***t, Mate is near. Our mate is near. " he practically growled in my head.

I was stunned to hear him. After all these years, I was finally about to find my mate. My mate, a very being created only for me, who would fill my life with happiness and colors.

" Are you sure ? " I asked my wolf again.

" Yes, I am sure. One of them is our mate, " Allister said in an assured voice. I tried so hard to figure out where the scent was coming from but it was almost impossible to do that. There were probably four hundred students and my eyes were searching for only one of them. Soon it was my time to give a speech and I cut my speech short. After everyone was finished with their speeches, they started to distribute gifts and prizes. Each gifted student was given twenty thousand dollars along with a surprise gift. They started from the werewolf faction and I impatiently handed gifts to everyone. I kept hoping the next person to come over would be my mate, but no such thing happened. After the werewolf faction, I handed over gifts to young vampires and young witches along with a few dragons and angels. I was impatient because I needed this event to be over so I could find my mate in this crowd.

" Only humans remained. " I thought in my head and smiled a bit, knowing this event would be over soon. I was not paying attention anymore. I just handed them their gifts in a hurry.

" Jonathan Smith " the announcer announced loudly. I saw a figure standing up and start walking towards us. Suddenly, I caught the same faint scent in another breeze of air. With each step this Jonathon took, the scent became stronger and thicker.

" Is Jonathon my mate ? " I thought in my head. I was excited and nervous at the same time. Those few seconds from the ground to the stage felt like an eternity to me. With each step he took forward, I was getting more and more impatient. Finally, he was near the stage and my breath hitched when I saw my mate for the first time. He came on the stage and greeted the Principal. He greeted everyone on his way towards me. I froze seeing my mate so close to me. His disheveled hair, doe eyes, plump strawberry lips, slender waist, every feature of his was alluring and intriguing. He looked one hell of a handsome guy in his black shirt.

" My lord, his gifts " the professor whispered in my ear, and I came back to my senses. I looked at him and he was well not so impressed by the way I just froze. But I could not blame myself. Anyone would freeze seeing their mate for the first time. I handed him gifts and he greeted me. His voice was just as sweet as he was. I watched his back as he greeted everyone and went back to his seat. Allister was howling happily inside my head and I was feeling the same thing.

" Follow him " I told my warrior guards over mind link.

" Yes my lord ", both of them said and left. My eyes searched for my mate but he got lost in the crowd. After some time, I could no longer smell his scent. That meant he had left already. I impatiently waited for this event to finish. Even though I was grateful for this event for meeting me with my mate, I needed it to be over soon. About an hour later, the event ended. Everyone thanked me again for joining. I cornered the Principal since I needed information about my mate.

" What is it, my lord " the principal asked me.

" Jonathan Smith, I need to know everything about him " I said.

" Okay my lord " he said and nodded his head. I bid everyone good bye and went towards my vehicle.

" Where are you ? " I asked my guards over mind link. As a king, I could easily mind link any werewolf to four miles away.

" We are near his house, keeping an eye on him, just like you said. " One of them answered over mind link.

" Send me the directions " I said over mind link and they nodded. I put the address on my GPS and drove. Finally, I reached near his address and saw my guards keeping an eye on his house. I saw my mate getting out of his house and I stopped the car. He went a few steps and opened a door. I drove towards him and saw it was a bakery shop.

" A bakery shop, huh ? Nice " I thought in my head. I watched my mate opening the shop. I got out of my vehicle and headed inside the shop. The ringing bell chimed as I opened the door.

" We are not open yet " he said without looking, and his voice sounded like music to my ears.

" His voice is so soft " Allister purred in my head.

" That's okay, do you have any kind of pastries ? " I asked, calming my racing heart beat. He turned his head and his eyes widened when he realized it was me.

" I am so sorry. Please sit " he said, and looked around.

" That's okay. I just need some vanilla pastries " I said to him.

" I am so sorry sir. We don't have any kind of fresh pastries available now. In fact, we don't have anything fresh at all. I was super busy for the last two days so I kind of neglected the shop. " my mate said, scratching the back of his head.

" How cute ! " Allister purred again.

" Oh ! That's unfortunate. It's okay. I will take my leave now. " I said to him and headed back towards my car. I could hear my own heart beat. My heart was pounding inside my chest. I immediately got inside the car and drove towards my castle like a mad man.
