Chapter 4
A brief silence coursed through the whole atmosphere with multiple gazes focused on Avon. He had just spoke as if he had some power.
Most gazes on him reflects their thought about him, how worthless they think he is, “And who do you think you’re? The worthless retired soldier against the Wilsons?” Vance let out with a scoff, accompanied with a sarcastic chuckle.
Avon simply rolled his eyes, “Give me till tomorrow.” He affirmed once more, taking the hands of Lorraine as they both head out of the villa.
After leaving the Hales’s villa.
Lorraine was still in tears. “Avon, I’m so sorry. I couldn’t even defend our marriage, I’m so sorry.” She cried out in a pleading tone.
Avon took her hand. “It’s alright, pretty one. I don’t want your beautiful face getting stained, darling. All I have to do is get the Wilson’s to be on your side, and your family will have no choice but to acknowledge me as their son-in-law. They won’t have a choice but to give our marriage a chance.
“It’s the Wilsons we’re talking about Avon. Don’t you know who they are?” Lorraine said worriedly.
Born and bred in EastHill, she knew all there’s to know about the Wilsons. And so does Avon, his family was once in business with theirs.
The Wilsons are one of the Great Five. They’re one of the core leaders heading the most successful conglomerate company in EastHill.
Originally the company was founded by the Barksdale, but after the family died mysteriously, the Wilsons took the position of the Head CEO of the company.
Caston Group is a conglomerate company, having broke into the market recently. The Great Five basically monopolized Caston Group’s order and success.
Avon only smiled at Lorraine, “You shouldn’t worry pretty one. One way or the other, I’ll get it figured out.”
At that moment Lorraine suddenly thought of something, “Oh yeah, I know just how this can be solved. An old classmate of mine is married to one of the Wilsons. In fact, she’s married to the ones that’s basically the head of the family. I will try and get in touch with her. She might be able to get you a meeting with the rest where the both of us would seek for their forgiveness.”
“Okay.” Avon had to agree for the sake of Lorraine’s worry.
Holding each other’s hands, they both were fast approaching Lorraine’s home.
Lorraine’s house and the Hales villa were located in the same residential area. Where the mansion of the Hales was the villa, and Lorraine’s abode was in the buildings’s high-rise.
The two of them took a leisurely stroll back. Charlotte on the other hand had arrived ahead of them, and as she saw the both of them about to enter. She popped at the entrance and refuse to let Avon inside with her daughter.
Avon simply shrugged, not interested with the idea of clashing with his mother in law. “I’ll go home then, bye Lorraine.”
Lorraine who had no choice simply nodded back at Avon.
The priority now was to get the Wilsons on their side. That way, the Hales would have no choice but to accept Avon as part of the family.
After settling down at her home, Lorraine immediately picked up her phone to get in touch with her classmate whom she had not spoken to for many years. She was the only friend she had back in high school.
On the other hand, Avon returned to the Noble House, situated in the area where the most luxurious villas of EastHill were.
He sat down on the couch, lit a cigarette while he anticipated his personal assistant. Just then the assistant walked in, dressed in a corporate dapper suit.
“You call for me, General.”
“Yes, and I think it’s time everyone knows who the Dragon General is. Prepare a party, schedule it to hold tomorrow night, in the name that the Dragon General is back to EastHill. I also want you to bring me the Head of the Wilsons.”
“Yes, General. I also have news about your family’s murderer.” He said back to him.
“That can wait till tomorrow is done, get what I ask you to get done, done right now.”
“Yes, General.” He bowed before he exited the room.
At the Hales’ Household.
At the foyer, everyone was seated discussing minor steps on how to expand their company, and how to get the Great Five to notice them or work with them.
Then Vance who wasn’t among them suddenly rushed in, “Have you guys heard?” He said breathlessly, taking deep breaths to calm himself down.
“Heard what?” Came out Charlotte confusingly,
“What was it you heard?” Royce also asked.
“Talk now.” Lennox ordered.
“The Dragon General is holding a party tomorrow night, which means he’s back. And I also heard he’s inviting all the elites and rich families to the party. Which meant that if we could get an invitation, it’s going to a marvelous opportunity for our family to finally get a foot into the upper class.” Vance said, his gaze focused solely on Lennox.
Everyone was silent, digesting the news he just gave, everybody knew who the Dragon General. They also knew he’s coming back but it was never announced or rumored this soon, and he wouldn’t throw a party on his arrival so why suddenly.
“How sure are you?” Royce asked, squinting his eyes at him.
“As sure as you would be if you pick up your phone and check the internet.” Vance responded.
“If he’s indeed holding a party, how are we going to get an invitation then?” Charlotte said from where she’s seated.
“Yes I mean not like we know anyone who knows the Dragon General.” Oscar said also.
“Isn’t Lorraine’s wretched husband a retired soldier, shouldn’t he at least know who the Dragon General or someone who knows him and see if he can get us an invitation.” Vance spoke up, diverting all attention to Lorraine silently seated at a corner watching the scene unfold.
“That Avon or whatever he calls himself can’t help us, we need to find another way of securing an invitation to that party. The Great Five would be present, we must not miss this chance. This might be our only chance.” Lennox said with clarity.
“Vance, you brought the news, you would need to find someone who knows the Dragon General and see how we can connect and get an invitation.”
“In fact everyone is expected to find us a way to get an invitation to that party.” Lennox addressed firmly.
“Grandfather!!!!!” A beautiful curly haired girl in her late-twenties arrived at the scene, jumping with glee as she skipped over to engage Lennox in a hug.
Lennox’s eyes sparked up as he wrapped his arm around her. At the same living room was a handsome chubby man who came in just now with the beautiful girl. He was her husband.
And she is the first granddaughter of Lennox, she was a member of the family before she got married to Sean Parker. A rich and prestigious family, she was married to a son born into one of the Great Five.
After separating from Lennox, her eyes went around the living room before she asked, “Why is everyone this serious? What’s going on?”
“Didn’t you heard, the Dragon General is back and he’s throwing a party. We’re discussing on how to get an invitation. Do you know anyone we can contact or anybody who knows the General? We need the invitation as it would be of future help to this family and our business, going to that party means that we would finally be considered an upper class in the society, and we would get the chance to meet with the Great Five.” Oscar filled his younger niece on what she had missed.
Then she bursted out laughing at them, “Was this why you people are looking this gloomy?” She asked laughingly his finger pointing around all of them.
“Oh the look just doesn’t suit you, Oscar.” She snickered at her uncle.
“And you Char, even if an invitation is gotten for you people, you wouldn’t be going so don’t stress your wrinkled facial.” She made another jeered statement at Charlotte.
“Oh sweet Royce, I wonder who’s gonna give you an invitation.” She pouted her lips at him before laughing at him again.
“And you Vance, let just say that it’s you who heard of it, but the same you that won’t attend it.”
She stepped back with sass in her steps as she flipped her hair backwards with pride, “Well my husband here,” she walked over to where he was, flinging her arms around him.
“He had gotten the both of us an invitation to the party already, I would have tag along with one of you, but as you can see I already have a plus one.” She giggled before leaning down to place a peck on his cheek.
“Really?”
“He has?”
“How?”
“Are you joking or for real?”
“She must be lying.”
“I don’t believe her.”
“What proof do you have?”
Everybody except Lorraine and Lennox began questioning Abigail’s unbelievable information; that she and her husband had actually gotten an invite to the party.
“Wow I can’t believe you guys got an invite.” Charlotte covered her mouth in awe.
“You’re so lucky..”
They kept throwing flattering words out to Abigail, why she smiled feeling proud of herself and everything.
Her eyes went around the room again to see a much more beautiful girl seated at a corner with her hands placed upright on the chair’s arm and half her face rested on her palm, barely conscious of her surroundings. That was Lorraine.
Who was that? Abigail wondered as she left her husband’s side to go to her. She heard the news about Lorraine’s new looks; how she had become an angel over the space of three days, also the trouble she got them in. That was the main reason why she visited, to see her cousin’s new appearance.
“Lorraine?!” She called, her tone filled with disbelief.
“Is this you?” She asked, her expression doing nothing to hide her disgust and hatred. She has always hated Lorraine for no reason.
She always thought Lorraine was more beautiful than her and likely the most beautiful girl in EastHill, that’s why she was so happy when her face got disfigured and abused. She in fact, did the most in abusing her face.
Looking at the new Lorraine, Abigail was certain she’s now the most beautiful girl in the family, and perhaps the whole of EastHill even.
“I heard what you did, is it true you slapped one of the Wilsons because he asked for a night stand?” She’s now standing in front of her with her arms crossed right below her chest, looking down on her with utmost aversion.
“Yes,” Lorraine replied mildly, without sparing her a glance and just staring into the space of nothing.
“Just yes?” She asked back, “Did you know the consequences of what you did?” She scoffed, rolling her eyes dramatically at her.
Just then Avon walked in, he was here to let them know that the Wilsons won’t be pressing charges anymore neither would they try to bother them-
When he witnessed his wife getting yelled at and getting mocked by the pretty lady standing in front of her.
“Can’t you talk? Just because you’re now pretty doesn’t mean you’re worth anything, a rich family like that is asking for you to open your legs not marry him, and you refused? What a shame! If anything happens to this family because of you, I will make sure to bring you down and cut you to pieces!” She yelled out angrily at her.
Lorraine said nothing and just manage to held the tears that was threatening to spill down her face inside.
“I would have beg my husband to also get you guys an invitation, but just seeing her face in this family makes me angry. If you want an invitation to the party, I suggest you chase her away now!”
Avon from where he stood bursted out laughing, an invitation to his very own party? Well no one knew he’s the Dragon General.
All gazes instantly trailed to him following his boisterous laugh.
“Aren’t you the worthless husband she got married to?” Abigail moved away from Lorraine, taking slow steps towards Avon.
“I will get everyone in this family the invitation to the party, so quit mocking or verbally assaulting my wife.” Avon stated in a warning tone.
To his face everyone began laughing at him.
“And who are you to get that for us?” Vance said laughingly.
“A spineless human running his mouth I guess,” Charlotte answered for him as she also laughed out loud.
“Is this how you intend to solve all our problem? You must be very crazy then. You haven’t gotten the Wilsons on our side yet, and now you’re talking about getting us all an invitation to the mighty Dragon General’s party? Unbelievable.”
The chatter at his ridicule only grew worse.
