The next morning, Tom comes to the villa with his wife and their five-year-old daughter. His wife, Jade, is exactly the kind of woman her name suggests—soft-spoken, gentle-eyed, a little shy when she steps through the door with a basket of supplements in her hands. "Mr. Blackwood," Jade says, smiling awkwardly, "Tom told me you were sick, so we wanted to stop by." Candice takes the basket from her. "You really didn't have to bring anything." Jade turns to her with a warmer smile. "Mrs. Blackwood, sorry for disturbing you." Candice answers without thinking. "You don't have to call me Mrs. Blackwood. You can call me..."
