Camilla’s POV
Weeks have passed and the Alpha has been asking for my presence almost everyday,
By now everyone knew.
There was no point pretending.
People noticed every time I disappeared.
People noticed every time I returned.
I tried not to think about it.
Maybe he needed extra work.
Maybe Sarah assigned me.
Maybe
I stopped my thoughts.
Nothing made sense anyway.
I was rinsing vegetables in the kitchen when whispers started again.
“Do you think she got in trouble?”
“No…”
“She came back alive.”
Quiet laughter followed.
Another voice.
“Then why does Alpha keep calling her?”
I lowered my head further.
I pretended not to hear like always
then,
The kitchen doors opened.
Everything stopped.
Sarah walked in.
“Camilla.”
My hands froze.
Not again!!
Everyone looked.
Sarah spoke again.
“The Alpha requests your presence.”
Silence.
No one moved.
A cup slipped from someone’s hands and shattered.
Nobody even reacted.
I slowly stood.
Me?
Again?
Sarah nodded.
“He’s waiting.”
I wiped my wet hands on my apron.
People moved aside.
Actually moved aside.
Like I suddenly carried something dangerous.
Whispers started immediately.
“She’s going again.”
“What is happening?”
“Did she become personal staff?”
Then
a calm voice.
Too calm.
“Interesting.”
Linda.
She entered elegantly.
Every maid immediately straightened.
Linda looked at me.
Then smiled.
But her eyes didn’t.
Her gaze moved over me slowly.
Like she was trying to understand something.
Then she asked
“Where are you taking her?”
Sarah hesitated.
Then answered
“The Alpha’s orders.”
Linda smiled wider.
“Of course.”
She looked at me.
“You must feel special.”
My stomach twisted.
I quickly shook my head.
“No.”
Linda stepped closer.
Close enough for only me to hear.
“Be careful.”
Her smile stayed.
“People usually fall very hard when they forget where they belong.”
She walked away.
Leaving cold behind.
I followed the guards.
But after a few minutes
I realized something.
This wasn’t the Alpha’s wing.
I slowed.
The guards kept moving.
People noticed.
Pack members stopped.
Eyes followed.
Then someone whispered
“…that path.”
Another gasped.
“No way.”
More heads turned.
Suddenly everyone was watching.
A maid carrying water whispered
“Why is she going there?”
Someone answered quietly
“She shouldn’t.”
I swallowed.
My heart started beating harder.
The farther we walked
the quieter people became.
Then
we stopped.
Before enormous iron gates.
Hidden behind tall trees.
Old.
Beautiful.
Closed.
I stared.
One guard opened them.
Slowly.
Then turned to me.
“Go.”
I looked at him.
“…inside?”
He nodded.
I looked behind me.
People had gathered.
Watching.
Some looked confused.
Some looked jealous.
Some looked shocked.
Then
I found Linda.
Her expression had changed.
No smile.
No softness.
Only disbelief.
One maid beside her whispered
“No one enters there…”
Another answered
“Not even Linda.”
Linda looked away immediately.
But I had already seen it.
Her face.
Like something had cracked.
I looked back at the gate.
My legs moved before my brain did.
I stepped inside.
The gate shut behind me.
And suddenly
silence.
Flowers.
Trees.
A pond.
Sunlight.
Beautiful.
Impossible.
This place felt untouched.
Safe.
I turned slowly
And saw him.
Alpha Brad stood beside the water.
Waiting.
Like he had been there all along.
He looked at me.
His expression didn’t change.
Then quietly said
“You took too long.”
