“Okay,I accept,”I said. This was the only way to pay back the debt that was up to my neck.Javier looked relieved and thankful at my words. How can I take care of another kid when I have mine on the way?One I didn’t plan to have? “Great.Well,my lawyer made up a contract so if you can,we can sign it tomorrow and go over the agreement.I really am grateful for what you are doing,Georgia,”he said and I nodded.I didn’t have time to think this through. The decision was inevitable.I was worried about my café.I couldn’t make Ferderico work any harder with the pay he was receiving. The café was the only thing keeping me afloat and it would be a shame to leave my employees without a job. “That sounds about right and you have my number to confirm the time,”I said and stuffed my face with the sweet croissant.I didn’t realize it would be this hard to talk to him since he brought up that we knew each other from before and that he didn’t mean from the café. “Right,”we finished up our food with minimum interaction and I left a generous tip for the waitress that was so kind to share her painkillers with me.Speaking of which,I downed my pills with the apple juice I had left.I followed Javier out of the door and turned around to point to the waitress to the table we sat at.She showed me a thumbs up and I smiled. We walked out of the café and I stopped before the car. “Um,Javier I’ll take a cab from here.So it’s no need for you to take me home,”he turned around and looked at me for a while. “It’s no trouble to take you home.I don’t have anywhere to be in the next hour,”he said and leaned down to my ear. “Don’t tell me you don’t want to be trapped with me in a car?”he whispered and my eyes widened and my face heated up. “I don’t know what you mean,”I murmured back and stepped back. “Come on,it will only be a waste of your time and money if you take a cab.I don’t bite, atleast not when you don’t want me to,”my eyebrows shot up and I looked up at him, shocked. What’s his deal? Why is he being all flirty? “Okay.Thank you,”I said and climbed into the car when he opened the door for me.I climbed in and took a seat. The driver started the car and pulled onto the road.He seemed to have heard the conversation or he just knew he needed to take me home because he drove in the direction of my house.I felt suffocated by the silence but chose not to say anything.I pulled out my phone and saw that I received a text from Ferderico. Ferderico | Georgia,I have a stomach bug.I closed up because Rose has classes and I’m currently at a nearby clinic Me | I’m so sorry, are you alright?I was discharged earlier today from the hospital and just needed to sort a few things out.Don’t worry about it and thank you for taking over while I was gone.Get well soon! Guilt was eating me up because of leaving him under so much pressure.I went onto the banking app and transferred him his monthly pay and a bonus.Maybe I should have asked him if this was an appropriate time to send him the money. I would just take a cab from my house to the café.I couldn’t ask of him to drop me off at the café.I felt bad enough that he offered to drive me home. After an extremely long and silent car ride we finally pulled to my house.I was itching to get out of the car and opened the door hastily. “Thank you so much for the ride.I will see you tomorrow,”I said. “I will see you tomorrow then,”he nodded and I closed the door. The car sped off and I unlocked my front door.I didn’t open the curtains when I first arrived so I quickly opened them all and light seeped through the windows. I quickly hurried to the living room and took the keys to the café.I was exhausted but I really had to go and see how the café was doing.I then switched the boots with sneakers and headed to the door.I locked the door behind me and walked to the stop where the cabs would usually line up.Knowing my luck, there were none and I had to walk a little further. The streets were crowded with school kids and workers on their lunch break.I stopped at another stop sign and waited for a cab to pass by. I could feel myself getting anxious as I waited. The sidewalk was getting more and more crowded and I felt myself becoming more alert of everything around me.The honking cars, the excited chatter among the many people. “Pardon, miss?”I looked back startled and snapped out of my thoughts. “Yes?”I asked.A handsome man was looking back at me concerned. “You looked like you were about to pass out and you were standing so near the road that I thought you might fall and be a roadkill,”he scratched the back of his neck as he rambled.I slightly smiled and looked back to the road to see if there were any cabs yet. “Oh thank you.But I was just a little lost in thought,”I chuckled awkwardly and his eyes lit up in understanding. “But you’re sure you’re okay?”I nodded and he rocked back on forth on his heels. “Yeah thanks again.I’m Georgia,by the way,”I said and looked back to the road. Finally,a cab caught my eye and I waved. The cab turned in my direction and I sighed in relief. The cab stopped infront of me and I opened the door and looked back at the stranger. “Samuel,”he smiled and I nodded in farewell and climbed into the back of the cab. “To the Morning Café,please,”I said to the middle aged man and he nodded and set off to my destination. “If I’m not mistaken, you’re the owner of that café right? My wife is obsessed with your cheesecake,”he said and I chuckled. It was nice to be acknowledge by your hard work and I smiled widely. “Well, your wife sounds very nice.Tell her she can drop by anytime,”we pulled up to the café and I felt my excitement spike up.I paid the fee and bid the nice man farewell.I unlocked the door and opened the door. The smell of caffeine engulfed me and I let out a content sigh. “Home sweet home,”
