Not Quite A Mistake

Chapter 13-Georgia

“Pardon?”I asked,looking behind me to make sure he was in fact talking to me.Surely enough he was staring at me dead in the eye and gesturing towards the car that was parked in the parking lot.I looked towards the black Audi he was gesturing to with an open mouth.

“I want to talk business with you,Georgia.If you would,can you please come with me?”he asked and stopped right infront of me.This left me completely and utterly confused.

“What for?”

“The issue concerning Lilly.I want to make you an offer,”I reluctantly gave in and followed him to the luxurious car.He opened the door and I thanked him before climbing in.The driver was staring straight ahead and I contemplated greeting him,but refrained out of fear of him not returning the greeting and the embarrassment that would follow.I looked to the bag of clothes and necessities in my right hand and looked at Javier.

“Would it be alright if we dropped off my stuff at my house first?It’s not far from here,”I asked and he looked over to the duffel bag I had and nodded.

“Sure,where do you live?”he asked as he adjusted his suit jacket.I told him the address and he told the driver.The driver only nodded with his eyes solely on the road.

In a matter of minutes,we pulled up to my house and I jumped out with my duffel bag.I unlocked the door and entered.I placed the bag on the couch and hurried to my room to dress in something decent.I pulled on a pale brown turtleneck with a pair of blue denim jeans and pulled on my ankle boots since it was quite chilly out,with heavy,grey clouds in the sky.I let my hair loose and applied some lipbalm.

I hurried out of the room and nearly fell down when I knocked into something.I steadied myself and groaned and held my throbbing nose.I popped an eye open and Javier stared down at me startled.

“What are you doing in here?”I asked with my hand still over my bruised nose.

“You were taking so long,I thought someone was holding you hostage in here,”he said and I laughed a humourless laugh.

“Well,excuse me for wanting to look the least bit decent,”I witted back.He shrugged before turning back towards the door.

“Put some ice on that so it doesn’t turn blue,”he said over his shoulder and I rolled my eyes.

“Thanks a lot Dr.Black,”I sarcastically bit back.He jerked his head back and looked at me shocked.I was already pressing frozen peas to my nose.

“I didn’t tell you my last name,”he said confused and I rolled my eyes.

“Not really that hard to find out when you’re literally all social media is talking about.I don’t live under a rock,”he looked dumbfounded and I looked at him weirdly.

“Makes sense,”he mumbled and scratched the back of his neck.I placed the peas back in the freezer and took a quick look in the mirror.I let out a sigh of relief when I saw that it was only red.I honestly expected it would look worse because of the impact.I took my handbag and walked towards the door where Javier stood,dead silent.I cleared my throat and he stepped outside.I locked the door and put the key in my handbag.Javier opened the door for me and I climbed in again

“To the nearest café,”the driver nodded and we pulled away from my house.My phone vibrated in my handbag and I dug in it to answer the phone.

“Excuse me,”I said and answered the phone without looking at the caller ID.

“Hello?”I said and the other line was silent.I pulled the phone from my ear and looked at the caller.’Mum’.

“Damnit,”I cleared my throat and pressed the phone to my ear again.

“I didn’t think you’d answer.What a surprise,”she cackled on the other side of the line and I clenched my teeth.The nerve of her.

“Yeah me neither”I forced a chuckle.What an inconvenient time for her to call.

“I see you still don’t know how to talk to your elders,”she scoffed and I sighed.

“What do you want?”I asked curtly,cutting to the chase.I didn’t have time for her games.

“Can’t I just call my daughter and see how she’s doing?”there she goes again.Her manipulative ways haven’t changed a bit.I stayed silent and looked towards Javier,noticing that we have come to a stop.He was looking at his watch and caught my eyes.He nodded towards the window and I looked towards it to see that we arrived at the café.I nodded and motioned with my hands that I was almost done.

“Well,could you lend your poor mother some money?The debt is swallowing m-“

“I have to go so I’ll call you later,”I cut her off and hung up.She just needed cash,the only reason why she would call me.I put my phone in my handbag and sit up straight.

“Sorry.The call was unexpected,”I said and he only nodded.

“Shall we go?”he asked and opened his door.I nodded and climbed out as well.A headache was starting to form because of the stress and because I haven’t taken my painkillers on time.I just hope that we can finish this as soon as possible.I still have to call Ferderico and let him know I would be returning to the café soon.I really needed to give that man a raise because of how much work he’s been taking up lately.

I walked behind Javier as he entered the café.I was intrigued as soon as we entered.The décor was not only homey but modern and gave off a comfortable vibe.A beacon for awkward teens and stressed adults.They did a great job with the layout and the lounge was calling out my name.

I snapped out of my trance and followed Javier to a table near the back.He pulled out his chair and I went to the other and took a seat.He was still standing and looking at me at a loss for words.I quirked an eyebrow and he just continued gawking.

“What?”I asked and he shook his head before taking a seat.

“What is it you wanted to talk about?”I asked and picked up the small menu they provided on the table.I skimmed through the multiple drinks and my eyebrows shot up at the various types and flavors.

“I’m just going to cut straight to the point.I don’t like beating around the bush,”he said and I glanced up at him.

“So don’t,”I looked back at the menu.

“Georgia,I need your full attention please,”I set the menu down and looked at him seriously,urging him to continue.

“To put it bluntly,would you like to take care of Lilly in exchange for a handsome amount of money?”
