Leonora could feel the warmth of the morning sun brushing gently against her skin as ever so slowly she stirred awake. For a moment, she kept her eyes shut, allowing herself sink deeper into the softness of the mattress beneath her. Then flashes of unfamiliar memories suddenly crossed her mind. Warm hands gliding slowly against her thigh. The memory felt disturbingly real, making her stomach tighten uneasily. A man’s breath fanning across her neck. Lips brushing against her skin as her body instinctively arched beneath his touch. “No!” Leonora gasped sharply as her eyes flew open. The bright sunlight pouring into the room forced her to squint immediately, and she quickly lifted a hand to shield her face. “It was just a dream… right?” she whispered breathlessly to herself. Still disoriented, she lightly slapped her cheeks a few times as if trying to force herself awake. A shaky breath escaped her lips while her heartbeat pounded loudly against her chest. “What the hell was that?” she muttered softly while blinking repeatedly to adjust her vision. Slowly, her gaze wandered around the room. The unfamiliar black marble walls, the large glass windows stretching from ceiling to floor… and the scent of masculine cologne lingering faintly in the air. Leonora’s brows furrowed deeply. “Where am I?” she asked under her breath as panic slowly crept into her chest. Her eyes widened slightly as realization began settling in. This wasn’t her room and judging from the expensive interior surrounding her, whoever owned it was far from ordinary. “…Whose room is this?” Leonora pressed a hand against her forehead as she tried recalling everything that had happened the previous night. Wait… last night. She was with Bianca and they were talking about the wedding. Then they clinked glasses and… Her breath hitched. The memory replayed vividly inside her head and it was so clear that it almost felt real all over again. The drink… The dizziness. Her stomach twisted violently as the realization slowly sank in. Leonora’s eyes widened in horror. “Did… did Bianca drug me?” she whispered out loud. Before she could even process the terrifying thought properly, the sound of a bathroom door opening suddenly echoed through the room. Leonora’s head snapped toward the direction instantly. A man stepped out of the bathroom. A white towel hung loosely around his waist while droplets of water trailed down his damp skin. His dark crew-cut hair was still slightly wet, and his broad shoulders only made his tall figure appear even more intimidating. He looked like someone straight out of a magazine. Handsome. Sharp. Dangerously composed. Yet there was something about his presence that felt cold enough to make Leonora tense immediately. Even the air in the room suddenly felt heavier the closer he got. The moment she saw his face, fragments of the blurry memories from earlier returned to her mind. It was him. The same man from last night. “Good morning, Bianca,” he said smoothly as he slowly walked closer to the bed. Leonora’s brows pulled together instantly. Without hesitation, she grabbed the bedsheet and quickly covered herself, her heart pounding violently against her chest. “S-sorry, but…” she stammered nervously. “My name isn’t Bianca.” The man paused briefly before letting out a low scoff. “It isn’t?” he asked with faint sarcasm laced in his tone. He dragged a hand lazily through his damp hair before taking a seat across from her. “Well,” he muttered calmly, “last night was definitely more intense than I expected.” Leonora’s face burned instantly. She quickly looked away, unable to meet his eyes any longer. “You should get dressed,” he continued casually. “We need to head to the courthouse and sign the marriage contract.” Once again, confusion washed over Leonora. She quickly slid off the bed, but the moment her feet touched the floor, her weak legs nearly gave out beneath her. A dull ache spread through her body, making her stomach twist uneasily. “I…” Her throat tightened nervously. “I slept with you last night, right?” For the first time since waking up, the man looked genuinely caught off guard by her question. His brows furrowed slightly before his expression hardened once more. “Get dressed,” he said coldly. “We’re leaving in the next thirty minutes.” He grabbed a wristwatch from the bedside table before continuing as he slide down from the bed. “Besides, you were the one who insisted on meeting me last night.” His sharp tone only deepened Leonora’s confusion. He sounded less like a stranger and more like someone expecting familiarity from her. What is he talking about? And why does he keep speaking as if he knows me? she wondered silently. But for now, she decided not to dwell on it because right now… escaping this place mattered more. The fact that I slept with a complete stranger is already a disaster on its own, leonora thought anxiously. I just need to leave before things become even worse. Her eyes immediately searched around the room for the clothes she had worn the previous night. The moment she spotted them scattered near the couch, she hurried toward them and quickly got dressed. After fixing her jacket properly, Leonora hesitated briefly before turning back toward the man. “Umm… can I ask you something before I leave?” He gave a small nod. Leonora swallowed nervously. “Did I…” She paused awkwardly. “Did I throw myself at you last night?” The question came out quieter than she intended. Leonora avoided looking directly into his eyes as embarrassment slowly crept onto her face. From the blurry memories she could still recall, nothing about the previous night felt forceful. And judging from the fragments in her mind, the face she vaguely remembered seeing in the dark belonged to him. “Bianca, we slept together last night, so it’s about time you pulled yourself together,” he said firmly. He adjusted the cuff of his wristwatch before continuing. "And inform your parents that there's no need for them to meet us at the courthouse. We can sign the marriage papers alone."
