Selection Of Interview

      Inside, I could see a woman standing near the door. She asked, “Mary Eliot?” and I said “yes”. She led me in. She was dressed in a proper suit with her heels on. She had a beautiful pendant on her neck. Looking at her I could guess if she was the secretary of Ella.

      Giving a glance to the room, I found it pretty interesting. As the waiting room, it was large and painted in dark wooden color. I assumed every rooms in the castle were similar, But the interior of the room was somewhat different. There were two large comfortable couches on two opposite sides of the room and a normal size glass table with lots of chairs resting beside. Numerous big indoor plants enriched the beauty of the room.  The walls of the room were filled with antic paintings. A lot of compartments were made in the wall for some beautiful and unique showpieces. There was a rug made with leopard’s skin in the middle of the room which didn’t please me at all, as I was an animal lover.

      Beside that I could see an armed chair where I saw a lady sitting in who was Ella Parker, if I was not wrong. She had pretty fair complexion with green cat eyes and short brown hair. Looking at her, I could feel we were not going to have a good bond. She was on her formal with high heels. She wore huge earrings, an expensive looking diamond hand watch and a necklace. I guess she was not much older than me.

       She was busy scrolling her phone. I thought I should speak, but what should I call her ‘madam’, no not at all. Its better I should be calling her Mrs. Parker. It was just when I stopped my thoughts and was about to speak when suddenly she noticed me. 

   Knowing she was staring, just as an act of kindness I greeted her, “Good afternoon Mrs. Parker”. But she didn’t say a single word nor gave any expression. She just stared at me with a serious look and went back to her phone.

   A few minutes later, her eyes still on her phone she inquired, “How old are you?” 

   I comfortably stated, “23”. It was then when she lifted her eyes. Suddenly, she looked at the woman who probably was her secretary after which the secretary took the file from my hand and gave it to Ella. It had all of my personal information that may be required for the job of a maid.

   Taking my file in her hand, she asked “why do you want a job in my house?”

   I replied softly, “I was searching for a reliable job when I saw the advertisement for this job in the newspaper which made me to try for this job.”

   “So, how much qualified are you?” she queried.

   I didn’t know qualification is required for the job of a maid. Anyways I needed the job and this information was not mentioned in my file, so I said “I completed my schooling” which actually was not true.     

   Immediately another question busted me. “You could have another profession, why a maid?”

   It’s none of your business was all I wanted to say but I could not. I simply said, “Because I have more experience of this profession.”

   Ella started to go through my file thoroughly after which she said in an impolite voice, “So you have worked on four houses before?” 

  I just nodded because deep inside I knew I made a fake one to get the job. I know what I did was wrong, but it was necessary to get a job in big castles. But I swear I know my entire job properly and no one will ever regret to hire me at least not for my work.

  Shortly, another question was fired onto me by Ella, “why you left all the four houses?” 

  I was not sure about the answer but too I stated confidently, “In one of the four houses, the owner had to shift for some reason and another two didn’t pay me as much as I needed whereas I left the last one as the owner was too impolite to me”. 

  It seemed she was not happy listening me. In a sharp voice she said, “You sound way too ambitious.”

       I didn’t think they would ask in such details. If I would have known, I would definitely have prepared it. But I gave best possible answer I could think at the moment, so I should not have any reason to regret. If this job is in my destiny I will definitely get it anyhow.

   “Get me a glass of water. It’s beside you” Ella said to me. 

     There were 4 glasses and a jug full of water on a stool beside me. Quickly filling a glass with water I passed it to her. I knew I passed it to her properly, it was she who didn’t handle it proper and the glass fell down. It broke down into pieces and water was all over the floor.

   “You stupid what have you done?” she screamed at me. 

   “I am sorry to say but it was your fault I had passed it properly” I said without any hesitation. I guessed she wanted to hear something else. She looked at me angrily. I had no idea what on earth she was up to. 

   She shouted, “b***h! It was your entire fault and now you are blaming me. How dare you? Don’t you remember it’s my house?” I was all silent when she shouted again to her secretary, “Julia, make someone clean this whole mesh and I don’t want this kind of maids in my house, get this s**t out and call another one.” The secretary stared at me furiously.

     It was then when a sudden voice of a man came from the back, “No she is not going anywhere.” The man was 5’7 feet tall with oval shaped fair complexion. He had a pretty stylish blonde hair with some small beard and mustache on his face. He wore a thick gold chain on his neck and had an expensive looking watch on his hand. He was properly dressed in a black suit with white shirt and red tie inside. His black shoes added the perfection. Yes, he was so called Mr. James Parker, the owner of the house and husband of the unpleasant lady, Ella Parker. I must say he seemed handsome but not for me. I didn’t like him much.

   James said loudly, “It was your fault Ella. I was standing at the door when everything happened and I saw it. You cannot blame the girl. Now it’s the time you accept your mistake.” 

  Staring at me he said, “Hire this girl for the head helper post.”   

      Ella tried to argue but I guess dropped her idea seeing me looking at her. I was not surprised with the behavior of James. I knew this kind of men. He definitely may have something going in his mind due to which he ordered to do so. What could be the reason? Did he get some motive which could be completed through me? But whatever the reason was, I got the job due to him and I may definitely need his help in future as well. Though I didn't like him even a percent, I should try to be good in front of him. It is the only solution.

     “Julia, make sure all the applicant are sent back. We got our head helper.” he stated still looking at me. Both Ella and her secretary stared at me furiously and left the room. I was sure them didn’t like me at all.

     When we were left alone in the room, James said gently “You may leave now. Go and pack your things and join from tomorrow. I will make sure a room in the staff quarter will be cleaned for you. Be here tomorrow at sharp 9:00 AM. Make sure you do your job properly.” Knowing he was my boss now, I just nodded.

     He asked, “Do you want a car to drop you?”

    I didn’t expect that but confidently I replied, “No, thank you. I can go by myself.” Listening to me he nodded and left the room. I could not believe I would be living here from tomorrow. I was really happy. Smiling at every single person on my way out from Parker's villa I left for my home.
