Episode 4: Meandering

HUH! LIARS! CONS! Ellice tells herself.

She had enough of this crazy stuff for one day! She thought she was in a hospital, now she doubts it.

This is no hospital. Well, at least not for people in their right state of mind.

PSYCHIATRIC HOSPITAL. That's more like it!

That man, even the doctor, they're all psychopaths playing with her mind.

But she was way better than them. They can't just fool her around. Nobody can fool a master con artist like her.

CON ARTIST?

Ellice's head hurts. The word keeps buzzing in her mind. It was too loud, her ears are bleeding from it. She tried to calm herself down. She closed her eyes. The pain diminishes a little. She's relieved.

"Kaye! Thank goodness you're safe. What have you done this time?You're all over the news!"

Ellice opens her eyes and WHOA! She's not in the hospital bed anymore. And she's not wearing a hospital gown. And somebody's calling her Kaye. Wasn't her name Ellice? Or she happens to forget her own name?

WHAT'S GOING ON? Ellice almost speaks out loud.

"Girl! You had me worried back there! What's gotten into you? Are you hurt?"

"Nope. Just had a little trouble with that guy. Got me into some trouble. But nothing to worry about. Your friend here is an expert. Come on. Bring the clap on."

Clap.Clap.Clap.

Whoa. Now she's really getting dizzy. Did she just answer that lady without opening her mouth?

"Enough of me and my adventures. So, Lizzy. When am I to meet this lucky guy?"

"Oh, you'll meet him soon. He's quite busy with his works these past few weeks. You know, deadlines and stuff. But, nothing to worry about. I'm sure you'll like him. He's nice and a true gentleman."

"That guy better find time for you. Or I will get the hell out of him. Never mess with the sissy,they say."

"Crazy! You don't want to do that. Anyways, are you available on a Friday?"

"I'm always available for you, Liz. You knew that."

"Awww. Thanks. So see you Friday, then? Popcorn's on me. 6 PM"

"So it's gonna be movie night. Again. Great!"

"You're gonna love it! I have to go. The class starts at 8:00. See you on Friday! Ciao!"

"Careful, Liz. Love ya!"

What was that all about? Did she just travel back in time?

Ellice closed her eyes. When she opened it again, she's back in her hospital bed.

It is not the place that is crazy. IT IS HER!
