CHAPTER 27 When the tavern doors swung open, I readied myself. I expected a couple of guards with the prince. Instead, ten men walked out. They wore tunics with the king’s sigil sewn on the left breast, over the heart. Rasheed appeared beside me. “Few more men than I anticipated.” I scoffed. “I handled five men on my own at this tavern, in case you don’t remember.” “And in case you forgot, they were drunk, and slovenly. These men are trained, and aside from eating a meal, I will guarantee they didn’t drink a drop of ale or wine.” Rasheed loved making his points. “Fine.
