Cinderella...Ish

Well it's been a week since that ball. Gypsy is getting acquainted here at this barn. Colin's horse Ranger is also doing well. I've been running both horses, since i'm working here I get all the time to ride. I have yet to run into a lot of the boarders but hey, it's Saturday today and I'm going down with Colin. She has people to work during the weekends so i'm just week days.

"You ready to see Ranger" I asked

"Yes. How has he been doing?" Colin asked

"Really good. He listens well" I said

Pulling up to the barn there was a decent amount of people there. And I recognize three of those trucks. Parking next to all of them, we hopped out and walked over to the field. Our horses came waltzing over and Colin handed me a lead rope. We walked our horses to the grooming area and got our tack out. Then we heard people coming out of the barn.

"Hey are you guys the new boarders?" We heard

Turning around it was Ryan, John, and one of the other roping guys.

"Ella?" Ryan said

"Wassup" I replied

"How come you guys board here" He asked

"They just moved to the area, and I got out of my step moms house and live with them now" I said

They nodded and looked at us.

"So, do you ride too?" John asked

"I rope and bull ride" Colin said

He looked at him then me, then nodded.

"We are gonna run some of the steers, if you want to come join" Ryan said

"Yeah. You gonna come or trail ride?" Colin said

"I'll ride the trails. You make friends" I said

"I'll be down in a minute" Colin said

They nodded and we finished tacking up.

"Well i'll be down there. Wish me luck" Colin said

"Have fun. Oh i'm going to post the picture from the ball" I said

He nodded and started down to the arena. I pulled up the pictures and picked two of my favorites. The first one was with the mask and the second was with out. It was just me in the first one and the four of us in the second picture. I made a cheesy caption and posted it. Then I hopped up on Gypsy and rode down past the little arena they were in and into the woods. One of the guys that works here during the week as well showed me the trailers. He's a couple years older then me. Very nice. Sadly taken. About an hour went by and I rode back to the arena and watched from the side.

"You wanna come in?" The one kid asked

"Sure" I replied

They put the steer back in the line up and opened the gate for me. Trotting in, I stood off to the side and Colin handed me his rope.

"You're up Cuzzo" He laughed

"Bro, I haven't roped on the longest time" I laughed

"C'mon, I wanna see you rope. You run barrels pretty good" Ryan said

"Nah, I don't think she's got it" John laughed

"Well, since you put it that way. Let's go" I said

They all clapped and I lined up next to the shoot.

"Alright Gyp, we haven't done this in a while, but lets show up the boys" I said

"You ready?" The no named kid asked

"Hold on. I gotta see if I can spin the damn thin still" I laughed

"You got 5 seconds" He replied

"Bro" I said looking at him.

"Alright, let's go" The kid said and opened the gate.

I don't like him. The steer ran out and Gypsy took off. I wasn't ready, but I spun the rope and got it around a horn. Pulling back, Gypsy came to a halt.

"Alright that wasn't too bad" Ryan said

"Throw was nice" John said

"I like how you almost fell off in the beginning" Colin laughed

"Well for that comment, you can get your rope back" I said

He pouted and hopped off his horse. I went back over to the side and John looked at me.

"Hey, did you go to the ball?" He asked

"I did. Did you?" I replied

"Yeah. I didn't see you after they told us to take the masks off. I didn't see your friend either" He said

"We left early. Colin's dad needed to borrow his truck" I said

"Oh. Did you dance with anyone?" He asked

"Yeah. Never found out who he was though" I replied

John nodded and went to say something but it was his turn. I wonder if he went with anyone. I don't think he has a girlfriend. But hey, he can easily get a girl to go with him. They are a good looking bunch honestly, but john likes to give an attitude. Maybe he just doesn't like me, that's fine. We went around a couple times and I even tried wrestling. Gypsy was confused, it was fun. They gave me one of the taller thinner steers, since my horse is gigantic and I am not.

"Well that seems like it was a good training session" Ryan said

"I think I could be a roper" I said nodding

They all looked at me and laughed. Rude. Going back down to the barn, the boys went inside while Colin and I untacked outside.

"Hey, is it suppose to rain today? Or just be cloudy?" I asked

"Rain why" Colin asked

"Well look at the sky" I laughed

He looked up and there was lighting. Then thunder right after. Gyp jumped. Ranger kicked the pole. We looked at each other and put our stuff away then walked the horses in the barn.

"Did y'all hear the thunder?" I asked

"Is that what that was" Ryan said

"Yup. So i'm gonna groom him in here." I smiled

They all shrugged and Colin started chatting with them. Once I finished grooming my horse I looked outside and it was raining. I guess I can keep him in the stall the rest of the day. He never really got much field time at the old barn, which is one reason I worked there, so I could excersize him. But here, he gets to go in a big field. He won't mind.

"El, are you turning him out? Or keeping him in the stall today" Colin asked

"Gonna keep him in" I replied

"Oh good you guys are still here. Do you all mind helping me bring in the horses? My hands left for the day" The owner said walking in

"Sure Deb" John replied

"It's suppose to get bad, so I don't want to keep you all" She replied

"I don't know where anyone goes but i'll help too" Colin said

"Elle knows" Deb laughed

"Lets go cuzzo" I smiled

We all grabbed some lead ropes and walked out into the field. The horses were all jumpy so grabbing them wasn't the easiest. But we got them from the field to the barn with out any trouble. Once they were all locked up we put our own horses away.

"Alright Gyp. If i'm not here tomorrow i'll be here monday, okay bub" I said rubbing his nose

He huffed and I shut the door. Stepping back, I walked over to the group of boys and leaned on Colin. We are all soaked.

"Hey, they invited me to go to a bar with them" Colin said

"That's cool. You have to drop me off at home though" I laughed

"Oh yeah. Well I guess I will see you guys later" Colin said

"Bro whats your number. I'll text you the address" Ryan said

Colin said his number and they all put it in their phones.

"What about you? Can I get your number?" The kid who's name I don't know said, he was smirking

"And why would you want mine" I asked

"You're pretty cute. I want to get to know you" He said

"Maybe next time" I said

"Why. Your boyfriend going to get mad" He asked smirking

"I mean if that makes you feel better about rejection sure. But I don't have one so.." I said looking at him

Colin and Ryan laughed while John shook his head and the kid just glared at me.

"Bye boys." I smiled

Colin and I booked it for his truck and hopped in. He started her up and then we looked at each other and laughed.

"I liked that come back. It was good. But now I have to hear about it" Colin said

"Hey, they're your friends now" I replied

"What are you going to do?" He asked

"Maybe see if Kate wants to do something. We live closer to each other now, so we can hang out more" I smiled

"Well that's good. Now I won't feel bad" He smiled

Shaking my head, we got back to the house and I went up and got a shower. Colin yelled at me cause he has to leave. Whoops. Once I was done, I went to my room and sat on the bed. Then I called Kate.

"Hey girl how was the barn" She asked

"Good, John, Ryan and another one of the roper kids board there" I said

"Damn, how was that" She laughed

"Well Colin befriended them, I tried roping and steer wrestling, John asked me about the ball and I pissed off the kid who's name I don't know" I chuckled

"How did you piss off a kid" Kate said

"He asked for my number and I said no. Then he tried to say oh my boyfriend would be mad, but I told him I don't have one but if that makes it better about being rejected okay" I laughed

"I love that. What are you up to now?" She asked

"Colin is going out with them so i'm home. Idk why they are going out in this storm." I said

There was a loud bang and the power went out

"Oh my power just went out" Kate said

"Same here" I replied

"Well, I better go. I need to find all my back up chargers and s**t" Kate said

"Okay. Be safe" I replied

"Bye babes" Kate said

I said bye back and looked at my phone percentage. Oh, this is going to be fun. After sifting through all the stuff I threw in random drawers, I found my back up charger and it is fully charged. Okay, cool. Heading out of my room, I walked down stairs and went into the living room.

"Hey we are going to play some board games. Would you care to join?" My aunt asked

"Of course" I smiled

"Colin? Do you want to join?" My aunt said looking past me

"Yeah. I was going to go out. But I probably shouldn't." He laughed

"Well take a seat and lets play monopoly" My uncle laughed

I got the dog piece. After an hour or so of playing monopoly, we decided dinner was a good idea. And since it's a torrential down pour outside, and there's not a whole lot of food in here. We ordered Pizza. I'm going to pick it up. They are giving us a discount since they don't have to deliver.

"Be careful out there Ella" My uncle said

"I will don't worry" I replied

Hugging them both, I ran out to my truck and started to the pizza place. I had to GPS it since I don't really know where many things are around here. I put a picture up on my i********: story and made it back alive, with pizza. The people there said I was crazy but thanked me since they had to send their drivers out. They are about to close too. It's getting bad out there. My truck was all over the road. Getting back to the house, I went inside with the food and set it on the kitchen counter.

"How was the drive?" My uncle asked

"It's bad out there" I replied

"Well thank you for going." My aunt smiled

Nodding, we all got some pizza and soda and sat down at the table. We also got mozzarella sticks. I love these things. Once we finished eating, I got my phone out and sat down on the couch. Texting Kate, I went on i********: and answered some Dm's about me being out in the storm. Then I had one from John.

John: Hey, uhm, I think you were who I danced with at the ball

Me: Huh? What do you mean?

I looked at my phone then shook my head. Does he not know who he danced with? They took their masks off at the end of the night. Well, I did assume it was someone from their group.. I feel like I- you know. After listening to John talk today. I can believe it. My phone buzzed and he answered back.

John: The picture you posted. You were the only one with that dress. And we danced.... Look at my recent picture I posted from the ball thing

I read his messaged and went to his profile. Liar, it's not his most recent. It is the second most recent. Tapping on the picture, it was all of them with their masks on. I found the guy I danced with and swiped to the second one. Huh, It is him. They each had a different color tie. John wore a dark blue one and he was the only one out of that group with that color. Okay then.

"Hey Colin. Guess what" I said

"Yeah" He replied

"So. John is the guy who I danced with at the ball" I said

"No way. How do you know?" Colin laughed

"He dm'ed me on insta. And I just looked at his profile and he was the one with the dark blue tie" I said

"Nice" He replied

I texted Kate and she laughed. I guess I should answer him

Me: Huh, would you look at that

Yeah that's all I got for a answer. Kate texted me again and said she's coming by tomorrow. If it's better outside. It's very dark in here.

"You know. We should of unpacked the generator" My uncle said

"You have one?" I laughed

"We lived in an area where if it was too windy the power would go out. Until they fixed it and the cost of living went up soo. Here we are" My uncle replied

"This house is so much nicer. And bigger. And we have some land" My aunt said walking back over to us

"Does that mean I can buy a new dirt bike or quad?" Colin asked

"Yeah. We have the room" My uncle replied

"Nice" Colin said

I went back to playing on my phone and got another message from John.

John: Nice response Ella. You sound thrilled

Me: I mean, we never really got along to well so

John: True. But hey we get along better then you and Bobby

Me: Who's Bobby

"Hey Colin. Who's bobby" I asked

"I don't know. Why?" He replied

"John said me and him get along better then me and Bobby" I said

"Do you two not get along? And he's probably the kid you rejected today" Colin laughed

"Ahh. And no. Not really. We don't fight with each other, we just don't exactly get along. He's stuck up." I replied

"He seems pretty cool though. We got along well" Colin replied

I just shrugged and got another message from John.

"Talking though dm's is not fun. So much work" I said

"Ask for his number" Colin laughed

"Nada" I replied, he just laughed

John: The kid who asked for your number. And then went on and on after you and your cousin left. Why'd you tell him no?

Me: ahhh Okay okay. And I said no because I don't know him. Not my fault he can't take rejection

"Hey, they are going to go out tomorrow night. They want to know if you wanna go. They said you can invite your friend who i'm assuming is Kate?" Colin said

"Yeah Kate. I'll ask her if she wants to go out." I said

Colin nodded and I chatted with John for a little bit. Then he asked for my number and I said no. I just want to see what his reaction would be. This conversation is going okay so as long as he doesn't pass my number on, I don't mind giving it to him. He might be a pain but I guess i'll be nice.

John: No? How come. You know me and you're talknig to me. Insta messages is just getting ot b a pain

Me: That's some nice typing you got going there. And I'm kidding, I'll give you my number as long as you don't give it to Bobby.

John: Oh okay. I won't

Me: I know where you ride dude, i'll fight you if you give it to him. xxx-xxx-xxxx

He saw the message and within a couple seconds, I had a text message from an unknown number. I guess me and this kid are going to be friends? Maybe. Oh my phones going to die. I found my charger thing and plugged that in. Then guess what. The power came back on. So, I took my phone off the charger and plugged it into the wall.

"Well, it's pretty late, good night everyone" I said

"Goodnight" They replied

Going back to my room, I answered a few messages then went to sleep.
