"So. How was work?" John asked
"Good. Normal" I laughed "And you?"
"Good. Have a project i'm working on." He said
"Oh what is it?" I asked
"A truck that needs a lift done" John said
"Oh cool. Uhm.. do you think you can help me get the saddle on?" I asked
"You still can't?" John asked
"I can. Kinda. But I was lifting stuff earlier and my shoulder hurts" I said
"You can go with out one" John laughed
"I want to though" I pouted
"You're lucky i'm tall" He laughed
"Hey. If I can do it you can do it" I chuckled
He shook his head and threw my saddle on my horse. Then I did the rest.
"You ready?" John asked
I nodded and we both hopped up on our horses. Going into the woods we rode around for a little bit and I took a picture of the two horses in the power lines.
"Can I see?" John asked
I showed him my phone and he sent it to himself.
"Hey, you better not take credit for that" I said
"I won't. I won't. Here stand next to Gypsy and i'll take your picture. If you take one of me and Stryker" He said
I nodded and stood with Gypsy and hugged his neck. Then I took a picture of John with his horse. After our picture break was done, we rode back through the woods and came back to the barn.
"Well, are you ready for dinner?" John asked
"Yup. I do need a shower though. I smell like horse s**t" I laughed
"You do" John laughed back
I smacked his shoulder and we turned the horses out. He said he would follow me back to my house and off we went.
"You can hang out in the living room while you wait. Also, is this like fancy? Or can I wear shorts or something" I said
"It's not fancy" He laughed
I nodded and left him in the living room, while i went and got a shower. I'm also a little sore but it's fine. I did trot a little bit today. I took a scolding hot shower and my skin is red from the water. Whoops haha. Going back to my room, I pulled out shorts and a tee shirt then grabbed my vans and ran a brush through my hair.
"Okay. I guess I look decent. My hair will just do whatever" I said
Taking my pain meds, I walked out of my room and met John in the living room.
"Have fun on your date" My aunt yelled
I shot her a look and Colin was sitting there laughing.
"Bye" I said
I grabbed Johns arm and he laughed as I dragged him out the door. Getting outside I looked at John who was smirking at me.
"What" I said
"Your family is funny" He said
"Yeah yeah. Let's go to your house so I can embarrass you" I said
"Well you've never met my family" He said
"I'm okay with that" I said
"Would you like to meet them?" He asked
"I mean. That's up to you. Would you bring me in and your family go. Oh look another girl" I said
"Hey, I don't bring home girls that often. I just so happen to want to bring you home right after breaking up with someone" He said
"That gives me anxiety" I laughed
"I mean, if you didn't want to stop talking after Texas, I would of brought you over. But I respected your decision and hey, you made a really good impression on someone who didn't want anything to do with other people who ride horses" John said
"She was...oi" I laughed
"Well, she's gone and hates me. So, you ready for dinner?" He asked
"Yes, I love food" I smiled
"I know" He laughed
We got into his truck and headed towards town.
"Where are we going?" I asked
"To dinner duh" John said
"Well yeah. I mean whats the name of the place" I said
"Oh, not telling you" He laughed
I groaned and he just laughed at me. After driving for a couple more minutes, John parked his truck at a nice Italian restaurant.
"John" I said
"What?" He asked
"I thought you said I didn't have to dress nice" I said
"You don't. Do you see what I'm wearing" He laughed
"Okay, but I look like a bum compared to the people walking in here" I said
"You look fine. Come on" He said
I sighed and hopped out of the truck. He met me at the front of his truck and held his arm out. I smiled and wrapped my arm around his and we walked inside. Getting seated, we looked at the menu and everything looks so good. It's so expensive though.
"Why do you pick places that are expensive" I said
"Because I can" He said
I shook my head and the waiter came over. Ordering our drinks, I finally found something that was good looking and not super expensive. It's pasta.
"So, how has work been, pain wise?" John asked
"Not too bad. I took my meds before we left so they kicked in." I said
"That's good. You know. If you were in pain we didn't have to on the trail ride" He said
"I wanted to go though. We got some cool pictures." I smiled
"Are you going to send me them?" He asked
"As long as you send me the one's you took" I replied
"I'll send it now" He said
We both pulled out our phones and I sent him the pictures and got ones in return. These are nice. After saving them to my phone, our food came out and we put our phones away.
"Your food looks good" I said
"So does yours"He replied
We both ate our food and made small talk then skipped dessert and got back in his truck.
"Well, did you enjoy dinner?" He asked
"I think you've been the best person i've gone out with... in a long time" I said
"Really?" He asked
"Yeah. Though, I wasn't expecting that when we had our lovely double date. But you tend to surprise me" I said
"How so" He laughed
"What the double date or how you surprise me" I replied
"Both" He smiled
"Well, I think I had a better time when you and Ryan went to the bathroom and it was just me and Carly, then I did the whole night. Ryan is just.. I know you said he's a ladies man but I didn't see any of that" I said
"Yeah. I've seen him when he's around girls. And with you, that was just non existent. And he knew" John said
"sheesh" I said
"Now how do I surprise you" He laughed
"I never liked seeing you. And we always parked near each other. You always gave me an attitude. Granted I gave one back. I don't know why i didn't like you. I assumed you didn't like me. But you're actually really nice. And not a shitty person like most the the guys i've been friends with. Not even dated, just tried to be friends. Bobby and Ryan are on my s**t list but, if I want to be friends with you then I have to deal with them and not be an ass hole. But yeah even Kate said she's surprised. She also said- well, never mind" I said
"I like how we became friends. And yeah I never really liked you. And also didn't like how we parked near each other. Also how Kate blocked the parking spot at the 4H combined thing then you parked there as I was legit waiting. But you were adorable with that kid. And seeing how you act with Kate and Tommy, is so different form how you acted with other people." He said
"You know. I still have a picture of you and him. He was sitting on your horse and you were putting your hat on his head. I love that picture. His mom may have it framed because he looks so happy. A picture of their son and a cowboy" I smiled
"I love that. So, what was Kate saying" John smirked
"Uhm, nothing." I said
"You know. Every time you say it's nothing. I get it out of you" John said
"Yeah, and I think that's bull s**t" I said
"How" He laughed
"Because I don't do that for anyone. So I don't know how I do for you" I huffed
"I enjoy it" He said
"Abuse" I laughed
"How" He said
"I'm being forced to share my secrets" I said
He just looked at me and I chuckled.
"Can you please tell me what Kate says" He asked
"Nope" I smiled
John shook his head and soon we got back to my house.
"So, there's a hockey game on Friday. And i'm having some people over to watch. Would you like to come?" He asked
"Who is everyone?" I asked
"Well my parents, your cousin. Ryan and Bobby. And a few of my other buddies. Some of them are bringing their girlfriends so you won't be the only girl. I think Colin is bringing his girl" John said
"Yeah, I guess so" I said
"Glad you're so excited" John laughed
"Hey, let me be anxious" I said
He just shook his head and I hopped out of his truck.
"I guess i'll see you Friday then" I said
"Yeah, i'm working late the next few days. So if you want to come over when you're done work you can" He said
"John. I've never actually been to your house, I don't even know if i can remember where that was" I said
"How about I text you my address and let you know when i'm on my way home" He said
"Okay. That sounds better. I can shower and not make your house smell like horse" I said
"I make my house smell like horse all the time" He laughed
"Yeah yeah. I'll see ya" I said
"See ya" He replied
"Oh! And thank you. I don't know if I said it or not" I said
"You did. But you're welcome" He said
I smiled and shut the door then walked into the house. Heading into the living room everyone looked at me.
"So, how was it?" My aunt asked
"It was nice. He's not a d**k" I laughed
"Did he tell you about Friday?" Colin asked
"Yeah. I said i'll go" I said
"Okay. Do you need a ride?" He asked
"No. I think he said you might bring Jenny" I said
"Yeah. But I wanted to make sure you were good first" He said
"Yeah. He told me to come over after work. I don't even know where his house is, other than i've passed it when I just drove around aimlessly" I said
They laughed and Kate texted me. I went in to my room and called her and we talked about my lovely... dinner. Or Date, what ever you want to call it.
