Chapter 28: Hoggy Following dinner, Jesse insisted that I see his room. He dragged me upstairs by my right hand, down a narrow hallway, into his realm of safety. The room consisted of two bunk beds, Transformers posters, a bean bag chair the color of split pea soup, and plastic containers filled with building blocks, both wooden and plastic. The carpeting was a beige hue with a few stains. A chalkboard hung on one of the walls and read: Love is every day. Beneath the four words was a drawing of Godzilla eating what looked to be a taxi cab wrapped inside a cheese pizza. He squeezed my hand, pointing significant objects out within the room, trusting me and the new friendship we were establishing together.
