"I guess the surprise is already ruined?" Hazel sighs when I hang up.
"Yeah, unfortunately. I'm so sorry."
She smiles.
"Tell me what's going on."
"Nathan had planned a surprise party for you but it's obviously not a surprise anymore. We should pass by the bakers and get another cake. "
"How did they ruin a cake?"
"They were all tipsy when they showed up. One of them apparently tripped and ruined everything. What am I supposed to do with them?"
"It's okay. I'm just relieved that Nathan didn't forget my birthday. I was so sad thinking he did."
"I hope those jerks will have sobered up by the time we get home."
