Queen Raina and Her Mate

Chapter 2

Raina’s pov

The next morning I wake up to a text Fromm my brother telling me to wait for him at the pack house tomorrow evening at seven. I respond to his text then head to the bathroom to get ready for school. As I am exiting the bathroom in only a towel my best friend Lexi appears in my room. “Are you ready yet?” She says as I head to to my closet and grab my jeans and a t shirt for the day. Once dressed we walk downstairs to the kitchen and eat breakfast.

I have been staying with Lexi since Rain has been away. When he returns I’ll be able to move into the beta’s family quarters at the pack house until I find my mate. We finished our breakfast then exited the house and got into Lexi’s car and headed to school. When we arrived at school we were met by our friends Lisa and Roxy. We all were the nerds of our school I guess you can say. We like to read and make good grades instead of partying all the time.

The day went as it normally did. We attended our classes then went to lunch and physical education. Once the last bell of the day rings we head back to Lexi’s house. I spent the time after school packing up all my belongings and put them in my car. Then once it was 6 o’clock I head for the pack house to meet my brother. When I arrive at the pack house I’m met by the Luke’s parents who happen to be the Alpha and Luna of our pack. “How are you doing Raina dear?” Says Macy the Luna. “ I am doing good!” I say to her with a small smile. The Alpha looks at me and says “are you excited to see your brother today?” I responded by saying “ yes I am so excited I have missed him so much. Five years is a long time to be apart from him.” They agree with me and we stand in the doorway of the pack house talking.

About an hour passed and we noticed a car coming down the driveway. We all waited patiently as it came to stop in front of the pack house. When the cars passenger dirt opens and my brother stepped out I could not help but run to him and hug him so tightly. “I can see you missed your brother” Rain says as he laughs at me.

What happened next was what shocked me though . The driver door to the car opens and the most intoxicating smell hits me. It smelled of chocolate and fire, I couldn’t get enough of it. As my eyes follow the smell I notice Luke standing there. He was starring at me like he was going to devour me in seconds. The next word I heard him say had me and everyone else shocked beyond or wildest imaginations. “Mate” says Luke. “Mate” I say back to him.

“ I think we should talk about this in my office” says Alpha Liam. We all follow him to his office as we enter his office we all take our seats on the sofas in the room. “ you two are mates which means Raina will be living in the alpha quarters with you. I know that Rain was going to move Raina into the beta’s quarters but she has to live with her mate now.” Says Alpha Liam. “ what if I don’t want to live with Luke? I want to live with my brother sir.” I say pleading with Alpha Liam. I noticed the hurt that Luke’s face had as I said this. “ I am not rejecting him I just don’t know him. I only know that he is Rain’s best friend and the next alpha of the pack.” I say reassuring them.

Luke’s pov

When I got out of the car I was hit by an intoxicating aroma of cherry blossoms. I let my eyes follow the sent only to be met by the most beautiful set of blue eye I’d ever seen. The eyes belonged to my best friends sister Raina. She was dressed in jeans and simple black t shirt with her hair tied into a messy bun. She was curvy and I liked that she wasn’t skinny like most she wolves were. She looked as shocked as I am to know that we are mates.

When we followed my parents and her brother to my dad’s office I was mind linked by Rain. “How the hell did this happen? You are Raina’s mate of all the damn wolves it had to be you?” He says with his voice full of concern. “I am just as shocked and concerned as you are. You know I can protect her and I will. I just wish she knew the truth behind why she needs so much protection.” I say to him via mind link.

As I cut the connections of our mind link I hear my mate talking to my father about the living arrangements. As she is telling him she wants to stay with Rain my heart hurts to know she doesn’t trust me enough to be around me. I want to let her know she is safe with me so I speak up and say “Raina you are my mate and mates have to be with each other for the bond not to weaken our wolves. I won’t do anything until you are ready for me to.” She looks at me before saying “ I trust you so I’ll move in. I only ask that I can take the guest room until I am ready to sleep in the same room with you.” I nod in agreement.

Once we had everything figured out we went to get Raina’s belongings out of her car. We carried them to the guest room next to mine. I left her there to put away her things and get settled in. I went downstairs to the game room to find Rain figuring that we should talk.

Rain’s pov

My best friend is my little sister’s mate. She needs so much protection and she doesn’t even know why yet. I know he is capable of doing that but he is gonna need my help as well. I went to the game room after the meeting in the alpha’s office to play some Call of Duty and blow off some steam.

As I was finishing the mission I was on in walks Luke. “We should talk about this some more don’t you think? I want to be on good terms with you as my friend an beta.” He says as I looks up at him. “You know everything about her but you don’t know her. She’s not like all the other she wolves we know. She loves books, studying, and most of all she wanted to leave this pack.” I say to him calmly.

He looked stunned by the words I said to him then he looked at me and said “ why did she want to leave the pack?” I simply said “Due to the memories of our parents and how they died protecting her. It haunts her every day. She longed for her mate to come and take her away so that she could escape those memories. Now that your her mate she can’t.”

“Her powers will start to come forward now that she has found her mate. You know that our parents were fighting to keep her safe but she has no idea who or what she is.” I stated. He looks at me and shakes his head in understanding. I love my sister but she is about to become more powerful then most wolves.
