As Vivian and Gabby left the eatery, their arms intertwined, I bid them farewell. Caroline, who was supposed to be at work today, had called in sick, which was surprisingly odd as she seemed fine yesterday.
I suggested that we go visit her, but Vivian thought it would be best to leave her alone to deal with her problems.
I approached the last customer, who was engrossed in his laptop, to inform him that it was closing time.
"Excuse me, sir, I'm sorry but we are closing now," I said politely as I approached the customer.
"Oh, sorry about that. I lost track of time," the customer replied as he quickly packed up his laptop.
"It's no problem at all, just wanted to make sure you knew. Have a great night," I replied with a smile.
