~ASH’S POV~
I gripped the steering wheel so tight my knuckles turned white, my earbud buzzing with Valerie’s pissed-off rant.
"Are you serious right now, Ash?" she snapped. "You asked me to come here, and now you just ditch me for her?"
I sighed, tilting my head back against the seat. I shouldn’t have brought her. I thought she’d be fun, but f**k, she was exhausting.
"Valerie, trust me—just spend more time on your phone and you won’t even notice I’m gone." My voice was flat, uninterested.
She let out an exasperated scoff, and I could practically hear her rolling her eyes through the phone.
"You’re such an asshole, Ash."
"Yeah, yeah. I’ll see you later." I ended the call before she could keep going.
