I told myself I wouldn’t do this.
Last night’s kiss with Ash had been a mistake—or at least, that’s what I’d repeated to myself over and over. The way he’d held me in the bathtub, his lips claiming mine, his touch igniting something buried deep inside me—it had all felt too real.
Too dangerous.
Guys like Ash didn’t fall for women like me. I wasn’t bold, confident, or daring. And I hated myself for falling first, for letting my guard slip, even for a moment.
I’d come to terms to keep my distance, to protect myself from the inevitable heartbreak. But when I stepped outside last night and saw Amanda standing with him close to his room door, hugging and crying as if she belonged there, my will wavered.
