Cara’s scream from downstairs jolted me out of bed, and I hurried down the stairs. I stood in the doorway to the living room, my eyes widening in shock.
Blood was stained across Ash's face, and Justin was perched on top of him, raining down punches.
“Stop it, Justin! Get off my son!” Ash's mother yelled, frantically pulling at Justin in a desperate attempt to get him off.
Ash wasn’t fighting back. He had a twisted smile on his face, even with his lips swollen and bloodied.
“Is that all you’ve got, loser?” Ash's rough voice echoed through the chaotic room.
“Shut up, you asshole!” Justin bellowed, delivering a punch that knocked Ash flat on his back, his breath coming in ragged gasps.
