Ginger Fields POV.
I turned to see Lucille’s reaction but she was already smiling at me and winding down the car window by my side, a total sell out.
“Good evening, miss,” he said,
“Good evening, can I help you?”
“Yes, my name is Roger and I am here with a message from Mr. Adrien Texture." then he held out a gift bag in front of my face before he continued talking, "This is for you, from Mr. Texture. Please have a good night.” He said as he gave me -more like dumped it- a gift bag on my lap and with a nod, he left immediately without even waiting to hear what I had to say.
“How nice of him” I muttered under my breath as Lucille wound up the window and joined me to look at what was inside the gift bag.
Putting my hand inside it, I felt a box and then I took it out, it was a phone pack, why did he get me a phone? As I took it out of the gift bag a note fell from the bag onto the floor, Lucille went after it and picked it up,
“Can I read it? and if I can should I read it out to you?” she said with excitement showing in her eyes.
“Yeah, sure,” I said as I looked at the expensive phone pack in my hand and placed it on my lap and I listened to Lucille read it,
Clearing her throat dramatically Lucille read,
“I noticed that there were glass shards on the floor in the living area of my suite and I figured it was your phone so I got you this phone. I would also like to talk to you so there is an already registered sim card in the phone and I have my number saved on it.”
She looked up at me beaming and then turned her attention back to the note and continued,
"I want to get to know you, personally. I have not had the chance to let you know what my intentions are and back in the elevator, you did not seem to be interested in talking to me. But I always know what I want and right now, you are what I want so I won’t stop trying to talk to you till you talk to me."
"The nerve of this man." I said after Lucille paused, "who does he think he is?"
"Whoever he thinks he is? he is that person. Now do not interrupt me, ma'am."
So, I rolled my eyes and kept quiet as I listened to Lucille read out the rest of the note,
"Call me tonight so we can make plans for dinner tomorrow."
Lucille started squealing
“See you soon. Love, A.T.”
“He did not say that, Lucille,” I said leaning in, to read the note in Lucille’s hand.
She started laughing and holding the note away she said, “I was just joking. But he said he will see you soon. And he said something about a rose. Is there a rose in that bag?”
A rose? I checked the bag and then I touched something that seemed like a straw, it was the stalk of a flower, taking it out I smelled it and smiled.
Urghhh, a single red rose.
This arrogant man was wooing me with so much intensity and he definitely had my attention. Then I laughed at him for getting me a phone because he saw pieces of glass on the floor, he also took advantage of that to give me his number so he could talk to me, he was not a quitter.
And he was thoughtful.
I smelled the rose again and smiled then I turned to ask Lucille what she thought about all this, that was when I noticed she was just looking at me with a smiling and obviously judgmental expression that made me laugh.
“You can not say you do not like that man, Ging,” Lucille said as she gave the note back to me.
“I really like that he gave me a rose and with his actions, he is being thoughtful and he has my attention but that does not mean I like him, Lu,” I said still smiling as I collected the note from Lucille and put it back in the bag with the phone.
Lucille looked at me up and down,
“Whatever makes you sleep at night.” then she turned her attention to the car and started it. Then just before we drove out of the restaurant parking lot, she gave me a wide smile and said,
“As I had said earlier, Ginger, my work here is done.”
******
When we got to the house, Lucille parked on the front porch of my house like she always did and we stayed inside the car as I listened to Lucille go on about all the office gossip she had heard about Adrien Texture.
She was telling me everything because she thought he was going to be good for me.
"It does not have to be something serious, you could just have fun. No feelings, I know you were hurt so that is why I think a fling with one of the youngest billionaires around is going to be great for you,"
I was still reluctant but something else she had said lingered on in my mind,
"And imagine what a union with someone like Adrien Texture would do for you in the fashion world."
I had told her I would think about it then I waved off the conversation. We kept talking for a few more minutes about small gossip and our plans for the summer, we were both going to be traveling back home. Even though Lucille was leaving before me,
“The best way to end the night would have been a sleep over.” Then she pouted for a bit.
“I wish I could stay over at your place tonight but I have to get ready for my journey back home on Sunday my things are everywhere in my apartment. My dad has been on my neck, calling me every minute asking when I am leaving, he says he misses me.” Lucille said rolling her eyes.
“Come on, he has not seen you in what? nine months? Lucille, I know he misses you.”
“Eight months. Your mum has not seen you in like six months and she is not on your neck.”
“Well six months is not as long as eight months and she is not on my neck because I have told her when I will be back home.”
“Yeah, yeah, yeah,” Lucille said as she realized she was just being stubborn. Then her phone started ringing, it was her dad. We both laughed, I was actually surprised that he had not called earlier in the day.
“Speak about the devil.” Lucille said then sighing, “Ginger let me be on my way, I will call him on the way back home.”
“Alright love, let me know when you get home Okay?” I said as I opened the door and came out of the car holding my silver purse and carrying the gift bag along too.
After closing the door, I waved at her then she bent to my side and said, “I will. And you better give me the whole gist tomorrow morning. Okay?”
Then with a faux stern look, she sent me a kiss, waved, and then she drove off. Smiling, I walked to my front door, I hummed a random song that came to my head as I struggled with opening the door because of the items in my hand.
As I got into the house, I used my keys to lock the door and I closed the dead bolts. I was feeling tired and for the first time since I went out, I checked the time. It was almost 10:00 pm. I can’t remember the last time I was out this late.
Taking off my shoes, I walked to the door that leads to the balcony to ensure it was locked and I turned on the security lights. After doing my checks on the windows and all other openings, I walked to the kitchen and turned on the lights as I sat on the island at the center of the kitchen.
There I got a cup, put some water in it, and placed the single rose inside it. I got a glass of water and drank it before taking some gummies from the fridge and turning off the light in the kitchen then I walked to my room.
Immediately I stepped into the room, I turned on the light, and sighed. Then I yawned and stretched my arms and body as I flung the gift bag onto the bed and that was when I realized how tired I was feeling. My day had been a long and very eventful one.
So much had happened in so little time.
I walked into my little closet and hung my purse on the bag rack in it then I took off my dress and put it in the laundry bag, it then took me minutes to fish out my night dress and walked out of the closet.
My bed looked so tempting but I resisted the urge to fall into bed as I walked to the bathroom, so I could shower and get ready for bed.
