Let's dress up!

Ginger Fields. POV. The sound of a car horn brought me back to the present day. It was probably Lucille, another sound of the horn confirmed that it was Lucille. Picking up my phone from the stool beside me, I sent her a voice message to let her know she could come in. “You can come into the apartment, just use your keys to open the door. I’m on the balcony.” After a few seconds, I heard the door open and I could hear Lucille’s footsteps moving toward the balcony, then she stopped for a moment and started moving around the kitchen before finally joining me under the umbrella tree. “What a lazy girl,” She announced as she walked in. I looked up from my lying position on the lounge chair and saw Lucille placing a wine bottle and two wine glasses on the stool and walking back into the apartment. I sat up immediately and saw her walking out with a pizza box. “You are an angel.” “Yes, but you are not because you are too lazy.” She replied as she placed the box on the stool, picked up a pizza slice and her glass of wine, then she settled down on the chair beside mine and looked at me expectantly. “ So, we have everything, great weather, pizza, wine…” “everything for what?” I asked even though I knew what she was here for, The look on Lucille’s face told me she was not interested in playing any games, she wanted the gist and she wanted it now, so I assured her I was joking. Then, picking up a pizza slice, I told her about the night of the party, the morning after and my short and awkward encounter in the elevator with Mr. Hot C.E.O. Lucille laughed a lot about the morning after and then the moment I mentioned the fact that he said he was going to see me soon, Lucille started beaming. “He told you that? Today we are celebrating more than one thing.” “Please, don’t be so extra…” “Girl I will be, we are celebrating me getting the job at Texture and the fact that even after you have scared off, pushed away every man that comes around...” “I did not find them attractive, that’s why I turned them down.” I interrupted with pizza in my mouth. “…the most eligible bachelor in town, the billionaire, just told you he was going to see you again. And we both know you find him attractive, so you had better not turn him down.” Lucille said, giving me a stern look. “Most eligible in the whole town? C’mon” I said, rolling my eyes “and he just said he was going to see me again. That doesn’t mean it will happen.” “Umm yes! The most eligible! And the richest too!” she winked, making me roll my eyes again. “You know I know about everything, so let me tell you. This town owes a lot of its urbanization to the presence of the Texture brand, so he is not just a member of the Texture family, he is the only son, which makes him heir to a family that has a lot of influence in Sun City, so you see that he is like a prince in this town.” Then she took a bite from the slice of pizza in her hand and continued, “He is also a handsome man who has all the beautiful elite ladies -and men too- all over him, so again, yes, he is the most eligible bachelor in Sun City. And if he said he would see you again and even added “soon” to that sentence, he would see you soon. He will find a way.” “Okay, so yeah, he’s an attractive billionaire, definitely a playboy. That doesn’t impress me.” “Well, just let me know how it goes when you see him again…” Lucille said, waving off what I said. “How? Girl I am dodging him like the plague plus I don’t even work at Texture anymore so it will be easy to not to see him.” I said in between pizza bites. “Girl,” Lucille said, her eyes filled with mischief. “Don’t you know me? I will bring him to you.” “No, you won’t,” I said as we laughed it off. “Whatever Ging,” then she added “So, there is a dinner event at this new restaurant later tonight. I was invited and I want you to come with me as my plus 1.” “Lucille, you know I don’t like socializing.” “Well you should do that more often, see what happened to you when you decided to socialize on Saturday.” I send her daggers with my eyes after she said that then she rolled her eyes and added, “Just think about it, we can end an already awesome day by celebrating. Later in the day, you can give me your reply” We were there the rest of the afternoon, soaking in the summer sun as we talked about fashion, our former colleagues, boys, and other random things, even though Lucille kept bringing up Mr. Hot CEO in most of the conversations. The moment we noticed it was getting dark we started preparing to get into the house, then Lucille brought up going out again, “So, are we going out to celebrate tonight?” “Ohh that’s true, I am meant to give you a reply now, right?” I said, stretching a bit as I got up from the lounge chair, and picked up my wine glass and the wine bottle. “Yeah, I would love us to do something that involves us dolling up.” She said. “Why do you tempt me so, Lucille?” I said as she mentioned dolling up, she knows I love to dress up. “Or you can just go to wherever it is you want to go and not try to rope me in, Lucille,” I said, walking towards the house. “Come on, Ging. Do it for me…” Lucille said as she hurried after me, latching onto me with her left arm, the wine bottle, and the empty pizza box in her other hand. “the moment it gets boring or annoying or the moment you realize you don’t like being there, we will leave.” Knowing there was no winning this with Lucille, I rolled my eyes and made her promise “if I want to leave, it doesn’t matter what you might be doing or who you see, we are leaving! Promise?” “I promise!” she replied excitedly. “So, who is an angel?” I asked as I flipped my hair out of my face and wiggled my eyebrows at her. “It’s you, Ging. Our lazy angel.” Rolling her eyes, she added, “Can we go and get ready now? You know I like to be on time” and before waiting for my reply she jogged ahead of me into the house. I did an excited little run after her as I thought of what I wanted to wear, time to dress up! ****** Adrian Texture. POV. It took me about 30 minutes to get ready for the opening dinner of a restaurant my friend was opening, I would normally not go to these dinner events but I had to because I was personally invited to the restaurant opening and it would bum the owner, who was his childhood friend. Growing up the son of Texture had been one without privacy for me, so the moment I got the chance to, I left Sun city to enjoy the wealth and affluence that comes with being a Texture in places where people would not recognize me. So, whenever I come back to Sun city there are a couple of people I could spend my time with and Dan was one of them. “ready to go?” Roger, head of my security, asked as he came back to the room. “Yeah,” I said, removing an invisible speck of dust from my outfit as I looked at it one more time in the mirror before leaving the room. “Let’s go.” ****** We got to the restaurant in approximately 35 minutes and we went into it immediately. It looked comfortable and boujee at the same time. It seemed like somewhere I would like to go to again. I was looking forward to the meal. If it was nice, then I was sold. I like to patronize the people I know, but if the quality of whatever they are selling is bad, then it is a no for me, even though I did not expect such behavior from the people in my circle, but you never really know people. We were directed to our table, which was located right where I liked it, not too hidden away in the space but away from the eyes of everyone. I was late, so even though I would have liked little or no attention, I still got it with a few people I knew, waving me from their seats. After being there for a few minutes, I noticed a lady who looked very familiar. Then I smiled when I remembered where I had seen that face. It was my one-night stand baby. Funny seeing her again on the same day after seeing her in the elevator. Since she had run away from me in the hotel room on Sunday morning, I have been unable to get her out of my mind. Laughing inside, I decided that it was fate. She was sitting with another lady. I wonder if Dan - the friend who opened the restaurant- knew her or her friend. Looking at her, I thought of how she had looked in the elevator, I had been happy to see her but she did not feel the same way and it was obvious from the way she acted toward me. She had been so fast at turning me down. Again. And nobody turned me down. She intrigued me. I was already trying to devise a plan but after the elevator meeting I needed more information for the plan so I made Roger find out more about him and from everything he had told me about her, I was able to come up with a plan that I was going to use to get her attention. I did not take my eyes off her because I was hoping she would feel my gaze on her and almost immediately she turned to where I was and our eyes locked. She wanted to break the gaze but for a moment there her eyes flickered and I could tell that she had seen me. I held her gaze and smiled, I knew she could tell that I remembered her and at that moment I knew that I was not going to rest till I spoke to her again. And I was not going to rest until I made her listen to the preposition I had in mind.
