Helpless.

"Mabel... w..what is it?... w..why aren't you talking?!." Adele asked, the erect hairs visible at the back of her neck. Her own voice was drowning amidst the shouts and screams of the people. She was scared. Scared that her bravest sister was scared. She slowly turned around, her knees giving to the ground when her eyes met that of a big, ruthless beast that seemed to have lost an eye. It towered above her, baring it's sharp teeth that looked ready to tear her apart. Paralysed with fear, she crawled backwards on the ground till her back met that of the cold wall's. Her jaws were locked, refusing to part and allow a scream of distress to escape her throat. She had remembered something Lionel said about sunset and rogues. She should've paid more attention to what he said. The animal progressed towards her, growling, his teeth baring and slobber dripping from it's mouth as though it's mouth watered from the very idea of tearing her flesh. Adele's chest heaved up and down, breathing like a fish out of water. Tears brimmed her eyes and she closed them, waiting for the impact of her limbs separated from her body. Then there was a loud, angry growl and when she forced her eyes open, Mabel stood before her, holding a long stick with a sharp edge. She looked down at her. "Adele ,ride back to the castle and get help whilst I try to hold off this beast," She added "NOW!", when Adele didn't budge from where she sat. Mabel's words worked like fuel, starting up the panic striken woman, jolting her up to her feet. Adele had tears in her eyes whilst shaking her head. "It will eat you!." She shouted and her so s took over. When the animal came near, Mabel hit it with her stick, angering it further. " Wouldn't it be better if it ate only me than both of us?," She smiled and turned her neck to look at her sister who frowned. "I was just kidding. I would be able to hold it off for a short time so please do me a huge favour and go back to castle!... I would catch up with you!." Adele threw her sister a doubtful glance before, disappearing from the corner, joining the streets which had humans running through it. She pressed herself through the crowds, desperate to get home and get help for Mabel. Praying that she'd be alright, she got back to the spot where their carriage had been parked. It had been toppled over to the side and and the coachman was gone. More people began to rush past her and for once, Adele realised what it really meant to be helpless, to face the cruelty the world had to offer. "Miss,... run!." A woman shouted and disappeared down the street. Swallowing a bitter pill and wiping her tears away, she straightened the front of her dress and rushed down the same street, running in the direction of home.
