Ari’s POV: Kai’s question sends my anxiety into overdrive, and my eyes dance between the three of them. I take a deep breath as my chest heaves; Kai leans off the dresser and walks over, sitting on his knees in front of me. “Hey,” he says softly, grabbing my hands. My eyes slowly flutter up to his, my lips slightly parted, trying to maintain my breath. Their mom is still sitting beside me, and her eyes trail between Kai and me. “You’re okay,” he whispers, caressing my hands. I take a deep breath, my eyes closing for a moment, “I haven’t let myself think about that too often,” I reply softly.
