TWIST OF FATE

CHAPTER 2

It was Claire who knocked on the door. She had this way of telling everyone she was somewhere even though they could not see her just yet with her special way of getting things done.

She was gentle, and calm and even though the way she spoke of her obsession about him was a turn off for him, he still could say she was a good person.

He never really hated anyone so he would always say that she was a good person but as much as he tried to, he could not see her as anything more than that, and he had no feelings for her.

The best way he could rate her was by saying that she could be the perfect match of a sister to him but she wasn’t even his sister and he did not know how a relationship with a sister would be.

He never had any siblings while growing up and even till now, but his cousins usually came around and it was always fun being around them until now that they were all older and more busy.

Anytime they had a meeting now, it would be for business and how to move the Empire forward and nothing more; it did not hurt him anyways because he enjoyed the fact that they were all working towards their dreams.

Even though they did not work at all, their grandparents had already left a good legacy for them and made them the top wherever they went to, but it was still good to work hard.

They did well with handling projects that could generate more money for the empire and were also responsible for ideas that kept the family influential still.

Everyone wanted to be associated with them and it was a great thing that none of his father’s siblings had ordered their own children to get married.

He could not fathom why he had to be an exception and he knew that with the way he felt this morning, he could pass a knife down the throat of the woman he was about to get married to.

But would that make a difference? Because it seemed as though they were just going to cry for a week and dump another lady on his neck.

It was obvious that his parents were that desperate and it feared him greatly for what they could do just to make sure that he is married soon for him.

He had tried to speak to his father’s siblings and even went as far as talking to the folks at his mother’s side but all attempts proved unsuccessful as they would not listen to anyone.

It was like they totally changed from the very awesome parents that he had grown up to know and love or maybe he just saw it that way because of how rigid they were with his getting married.

His mother had even tried to still be calm with him and tried to convince him a little more with the power of a woman but his dad still shut her up and would not let her say a word.

He claimed that Alexander was spoiled and she was the cause of it all, because if she had not been this lenient with him, then he would have obeyed their request a long time ago.

He also made attempts to run away but he was caught every single time and it is because his parents altered all of his moves so it seemed like they had been prepared for this for a long time now.

Else, how would they have known where he would want to run away to hide and why did they put measures in place already for more than a month before telling him their decision.

It meant that they did not just come up with this idea over a night and he was sure he would get to the root of the matter.

He had never seen them so serious about anything the way they were and it was like some people were pursuing them to push him into marriage and they were doing everything in their power to.

And that was why he finally gave in and agreed to marry Claire even though it likely would make him miserable for the rest of his own life.

At this point, if he still wanted to work in one piece and live the rich life he has always been living and could not stop living, he would not leave the dynasty and just get married to her.

It was only until now that it occurred to him that he was just like a pawn in the chess board and he was being controlled by his parents all the time.

Being an obedient child, he did everything they asked him to do because he thought they knew best and they would not lead him astray but now he saw things in a different light.

What really was it about this young lady that made them want to marry him at all cost and why would she not let go of him even though she has clearly seen that he has no feelings for her?

Why would she want to spend the rest of her life with a man who had no honor or respect for her and would not do s**t to make her happy.

It was practically like he was getting married to her on behalf of his parents as they were the ones who really owned her and had nothing to do with her.

He knew his parents were not saints and for them to keep the Empire in a good light, they must be ready to pay some sacrifices and thinking about that now just occurred to him that this could be the reason why he is getting married to her.

Could it be that she had a secret of theirs, and since they do not want it to be exposed, they had to fulfill all her heart’s desires?
