Chapter 11: Stalling

Zanes POV

Frustrated, I ran my fingers into my dark hair. f**k. Faye, you better be worth it. I have to win your heart. Makes good connections to Shawn and Nick and now Gina. What am I doing directing a f*****g circus? My wolf was burning in rage, but mainly to myself because he felt like I shouldn't have rushed out. I should've stayed and made sure to out Gina on her place. My wolf was itching to get out he wanted to run. Needed to get out and cool down. Humans are so darn complicated. My mate really had a challenge. Why wouldn't I have a challenge though for f***s sake it's me. I pull out my phone, ready to dial Ryan. "I'll forgive you for that rude comment. If it was me, Zane baby, I wouldn't ever put you through such a trial. you've already won my heart." Gina said, walking to me. I growl, "No, Gina, we were doing good actually really good till you showed up. How many times do I have to tell you, I used you like a dirty rag. I don't want you." Her eyebrows furrowed. Her lips thinned. She put her hands on her hips and said in a really nasty tone, "You guys won't ever work. She'd never be accepted into our pack. You belong to me, and I will show you how by subtracting that little whore." I got up to lunge but she was gone. Where the f**k did Gina go? She f*****g threatened my mate. How is she faster than me? Is she off to go to Faye? I speed out of the woods to where Faye left out. I'll kill that b***h if she even lays one finger on Faye. After a couple minutes of running, I see Faye enter a local grocery shop called Gear up and shoo out. That's right, there's a storm tomorrow, and now that I remember, I sniff the air, and the currency feels different. The temperature has dropped. Clouds from the distance are rolling in darker. The storm seems to be coming in soon, like a couple of hours away. I remember I mentioned I needed batteries. I'll use that towards Faye. I follow in after her. Staying only a couple isles away. Gina is not as high of a rank as I am, but she is definitely stronger than Faye. I need to make up with her as soon as possible. I need her to let me protect her. After all, I am bodyguard. I saw Gina hot and angry a isle away, and when she saw me, she smirked. I ran as fast as I could towards Faye, and she yelped, trying to get away. But then I didn't see Gina. I swear I saw her. How did she disappear again? Faye yelling at me. "What the hell, Zane? what was that about?! are you stalking me?!" I can't tell her about Gina. It'd only make things worse. Gina is using Faye as her prey and to taunt me. I come up with a fast excuse. "Please, Faye, I'm sorry. I don't know what to do with myself. I know I am in the wrong, and you have every single right to be pisst, but please, Faye, please don't shut me out!" I make it loud to cause a scene. Having everyone look at us. Making her uncomfortable but also knowing her soft heart she won't deny. This will also make sure I can protect her. But I was a ass. And I was sorry. I get down on my knees and grab both her hands and continue "Faye oh beautiful smart witty Faye, please don't give up on me. I will make you the happiest. Faye baby." Her eyes wide, her cheeks flushed, and she was embarrassed by acts. she started to hush me and said "Okay Zane okay calm down. we can work it out. Just be quiet! and get up."

Relieved this worked, I grab her and bring her into my chest, holding her. I kiss her head and tell her with a soft thank you. To my surprise, she hugs me back. She squeezed me and whispered, "I'm so glad you chased after me." And the weirdest part with this, we loosened our hug, and the people around us on the store were clapping. I smile and grab her jawline, point her pouty and soft lips to me, and I bend down, kissing her. Smashing my lips to hers and giving her an aggressive and yet romantic kiss in front of everyone. Where we started to hear some people whistling and hooting. I felt like a champion. I made a great move without even thinking. When we got done kissing, her face was flushed, and in awe. I think I blew both our minds. I smiled at her and gave her a hand a squeeze. she smiled back, and we took a bow. She and I went and grabbed our supplies. And I walked her to the restaurant. She looked at me with her beautiful sparkly blue eyes. And said "Well I've never had that happen before." I chuckled and said,"Me either, but as you can see, even the public approves of you and me." She licked her lips looking at mine, and I started to make my way to kiss her, but her annoying friend Sabrina came out."Are you here to make another show?" Faye laughed."No, I was saying goodbye to Zane." The word goodbye tugged at my chest. I corrected her. "I think you mean you'll see me till next time." She nodded. Sabrina said she missed Ryan and felt like a 3rd wheel. Faye and I laughed, but I did wonder where Ryan was. I grabbed her before she went and swiftly tangled my hand through her hair, grabbing a piece and kissing her and telling her to text me. She but those lushess lips nodded and went inside. I was excited to Ryan. I was proud of myself, and my wolf was proud, too. We were ecstatic.
