chapter 13: Finding out information

Shawn's POV

I've been tossing and rolling all night. I knew those 2 wolves were outside watching in on us. The question is, why? the time this morning is 7 AM, and I go to my lab test area in my office. I pulled out the hair analysis I had retrieved from Zane. I've been studying the DNA cells attached to it from the scalp. It's taken me 12 hours. I could only do this because I use the money from Ravenswood Inn towards upgrading my equipment, and I have been buying from a very dangerous company. Their equipment isn't even federally approved yet because their so high in technology that the federation can't keep up, they are still in proccess of health violations and making instruction manuals, using test subjects. You get the point. Because I know Zane is a shifter, I can see that his hair is healthy, he's got no diseases, his hair has high density because of his wolf, His scalp isn't too oily. He's free from drugs, but through his hair foccisles, I can see he likes to drink. His DNA Cells show he's from, from my eyes blink a couple of times. The Eldenwood Tribe. That's the tribe I was banished from. 16 years ago. I left that pack at 15 years old. I'm 31 years old currently. Are these 2 wolves not actually here for Faye but because they found me and are using Faye as a subject to get to me and Nick? That could explain why they were outside last night. I bet they're learning the perimeters of my place to conduct an ambush. My heart races. I feel hot. But why? Nick and I left, and we never caused any trouble or spoke to anyone from the pack until recently. I am sorry, Faye, but I am going to have to get involved in your personal love life, and I am going to take away Zane. You might hate me, but I now understand why those men are here. Zane isn't interested in you at all he's here sent by the alpha from Eldenwood Tribe to punish me and Nick from a crime we did not commit 16 years ago. He hasn't forgotten and hasn't let it go. Faye, you're my family. I'm sorry, my past has gotten you involved. I'm sorry my past will hurt you. But trust in me and Nick. That's it, my mind is settled. I walk out of my office and up the stairs to Nick's door, and I knock on it 3 times. I hear him tussling out of bed, and he opens the door in a groggy voice. "What is it, Shawn?"

I tell him, "Follow me. I have big news." He groans."What at 7 in the morning?" I turn back and use a stern voice."Now." He follows like he's a depressed prisoner. We make it to my office and tell him to close the door and he follows my instructions. I sit behind my dark mahogany desk and try to patiently wait for Nick to sit. Before I tell him the big news, I tell him our restaurant opens at 9 AM and he should be awake anyways getting the restaurant ready. Now that's out of the way, we hear Faye getting out of bed. Her room is above my office. She's getting ready for work. I bring my attention back to Nick, whose eyes are droopy, and he's got bad bed hair. I ask. "So I'm assuming you knew the wolves were outside too?" He nodded and asked "Why though?" I smile and say,"Glad you asked. I have interesting news to tell you. Nick leaned in, ready to hear. When I was done informing Nick of my discovery. He had looked more awake and said a little too cheery. "I knew it! I knew that guy was going to use Faye!" I shake my head. "Nick, that's not the point. The point is we're found, and they're trying to scan around to get information and attack." He nodded."I know, and they're using Faye to get the information." He replied. I then shift positions and say, "So we're going to upset Faye by separating her from Zane." His eyes widened, and he smiled."I can do that." He said. God, this kid was possessive on Faye, but like right now, I guess it was a good thing. We stopped our conversation as we heard her outside our door, and she knocked. Through looks, we tell each other we'll talk more later, and I tell Faye to enter.
