Who we are

Walking into the study, you could feel the tension in the air between my and Fredrick's parents. It looked like they had just had a very unpleasant encounter with one another.

"Ok OK, as we started to tell your parents, Chrys, Maria and I are wanting to retire from our current positions, but in order for us to retire and announce Fredrick as our successor he has to announce a Luna. An Alpha can not move up without a Luna." Felix emphasized the last part.

"And what do you think we are trying to do?" Hope asked. "We have been waiting for years for Chryseis to come of age and get her creature, and if it wasn't for your son, we could have retired years ago!"

"We would have been having this conversation then if he had. We have been waiting as well. We reigned as Alpha and Luna for almost fifty years and have been King and Queen almost thirty. "Well, regardless of anything, I will have to go with my parents to train and manage my powers. After that we can talk about the Luna announcement."

"And how long will that be? We would like to retire before we die." Maria snapped at me. "See Fredrick? If you would have just chosen Tamara, we wouldn't be in the spot right now."

"Father, why can't you name Beta George?" Fredrick asked.

"No, I did not choose him for Beta, you did, and it is bad enough he will be announced as the Alpha after you. I will not allow that man to be my successor!" Felix announced, standing up. "Chrys, we are sorry for our son's actions and couldn't be happier that things are working out for you. But like I said, we would like to retire full time, so we will give you six months for your training and then we will need an answer about what the two of you are doing. Maria lets go. The car is already loaded." With that Maria stood and left with Felix. We stared at the door, no one saying anything for a few minutes.

"Six months should be fine." Hope stated, "Chrys, you will have to pick, but for right now you will need to pack your things and get ready to go. We leave in the morning."

"Where will we be going?" Fredrick asked. I gave him a questioning look. "Look, I have already named George the new Alpha, so he is already playing the role. Whatever you choose to do, I'm right there with you. So I ask again where will we be going?"

"A small town named Bainbridge, Georgia. It is our own city, with only our closest friends and advisors and their families. There's about 400 people there. It's one of the smaller compounds." Dad answered him, his face radiating with pride at the fact that Fredrick would follow me, that he would give up his pack for me.
