ALLISON It's been two days since I stepped foot in the Pack House and I must say it's been the best time of my life. Other than the maids, Lazar and Marcus have been treating me well. And with respect. They didn't care that I was a human. They treated me with care. Lazar was patient. He answers my question without acting like I was a burden. And sometimes it brings tears to my eyes, to know that someone doesn't see me as a burden, but instead as an important figure in his life that deserves all the love in the world. Another shocking realization is that I wasn't shy around him. Yes, I know how other ladies would have been shy around him, but that wasn't the case here. I felt safe around him. Protected. Since I was bored, I decided to take a stroll around the mansion. On my way, I bumped into the same old lady that had brought my breakfast to my room. I must say she's the only sweet maid here. The other maids only treat me well when Alpha Lazar is there. But if he isn't, they go back to treating me like I was trash. “Greetings my Luna.” The lady, Irene, bowed her head in greeting. “Please ma'am, my name is Allison. Address me as such, okay?” Her lips curled into a smile. “Of course not, my dear. In our Pack, we won't dare address our Luna by her name. It is a punishable act.” I almost rolled my eyes at her words. It is a punishable act, yet Helen and her friends have been doing the complete opposite. Maybe it was because they knew that I would never tell Alpha Lazar about it. “I see.” I nodded. “Anyways, where are you heading to?” “Uhm….the library. I can't seem to remember the road that leads there. Can you please take me?” I pleaded. “Of course, my Luna.” She flashed a small smile at me before leading the way. ♤♤♤ “We're here, my Luna. That's the library.” She pointed at a door. “Thank you so much, Irene.” I muttered my thanks and she bowed before walking away. A new-coolheadedness washed over me, but it promptly disappeared when I burst into the library and saw Alpha Lazar in the middle of it. With a hammer in his hand and a nail tucked into the crook of his mouth, he didn't look up from the pile of woods at his feet. I dropped my hands to my sides and wrapped them around my chest as I watched as he tugged the nail out of his mouth and drove it into a wooden board with the loose crack of the hammer. He didn't tear his eyes away from what he was doing. “How are you doing, Allie?” “I'm….I'm fine.” I stuttered. I found myself wondering what he was doing right now. But I couldn't bring myself to ask the question. Instead I just watched him as he hammered another nail into the wood and splintered it. Unable to stay mute anymore, I blurted out. “What is this?” He finally stared at me. “A bookshelf.” His answer caught me off guard. A bookshelf? Why was he suddenly making a bookshelf in the library when there were countless people to do the work? “For who?” “For you of course, Allie. You love reading novels and for a start, I needed to set up a shelf for your books. They'll be here soon.” He said those words like they were the simplest words to say, but if I'm being honest, it wasn't. I mean why on earth will a big guy like him go through the stress of setting up a bookshelf for me? “It was supposed to come as a surprise though. I didn't want you to see the bookshelf and the books until I was done with it.” He winked at me before going back to work. “You're an Alpha. You could easily have asked any of the maids to help you with this.” I gestured to the wood in front of him. His dark chuckle caresses me like silk. “No, Allison. You're my mate. And I find it hot doing something like this for you.” My eyes teared up as I heard his words. He went through the stress of doing all of these for me. I can't remember the last time anyone has ever done something so sweet for me. I was about to say something but just then, the library door opened and Marcus made his way inside, with six other maids. Each of them was carrying large brown boxes in their hands. I stared at the boxes wishing I had a super power to see what was in them. “The books are here, your Majesty.” Marcus announced. He gestured to the maids to begin to arrange the books on the shelves. By now, Alpha Lazar was done with the whole work. He walked towards me and took my hands in his. Like a statue, I watched the maids as they began to arrange the books on the shelves. My eyes went wide with shock as I saw the books. In no time, the maids were done with work and they stepped away, so I could admire the new shelf stacked with books. There were over two hundred books on the shelves. Before I could stop myself, I ran into Lazar's arms. This was the best gift one could possibly get. A bookshelf stacked with all kinds of books. "Do you like it?"
