16 years later.......
Water streams down the tiny window on the far wall and flashes of lightening prove to be my only source of light in pitch black of the cell. The black of night has become my source of peace over the years. I could not tell you how long I have been locked in this damp, stone walled cell. The only amenities available are a small broken sink in the corner and a bucket that is supposed to function as a toilet. Though neither of those mean a thing seeing as my wrists are attached to the stone wall at the head of the stone slab, I call a bed. The chains on my wrist are silver, which over time has burned the skin off. The pain at one point was unbearable, but now I am numb to it.
They say my fate was sealed when I was born an Omega. Omegas are from what I have been told the lowest man on the totem pole. Below even your lowest of ranking pack members. Because of my rank I am damned to spend my life locked up to be used as any male sees fit. I gave up on questioning this what I can assume was years ago because all it got me was worse punishment. Luckily, I do get fed daily, but those meals usually consist of some sort of sludge and one glass of water. It isn't very pleasant but I will take what I can get. The screams of other prisoner's echo through the halls on an almost nightly basis. Some nights those screams do not come from others, but from me. I do not have the luxury of escaping the torture and torment all other prisoners face.
Footsteps echo throughout the halls signaling the nightly rounds of the guard. Shortly after this round the first male will make his way down to do with me as he pleases. I can almost always count on this seeing as there has not been a night for as long as I can remember that a male has not made the journey here. I will do my best to block out the events that are to come but the images will forever bee ingrained in my head. There is not a way to erase it from my mind. There is also no telling if this will be the time that one goes too far and kills me. Quite honestly death does not seem like such a horrible thing with the life I am forced to live.
...........
the clang of my cell door wakes me, and I struggle to open my eyes due to the crusting of dried tears. Loud heavy footsteps make there way towards me and the smell of this male informs me that this is the alpha. Finally cracking my eyes open I look up at the enormous man towering above me. His rugged and scarred appearance would place fear into heart of any sane person including me. He stops at the foot of my stone slab and just stares at me as I slowly do my best to get into a sitting position. Knowing my place, I stay silent as I wait for him to announce why he has payed me a visit this morning.
"omega." He states radiating power.
I stay silent afraid of saying something that may get me punished.
"Today is your lucky day." He huffs as he pulls a key out of his pocket and begins to unlock my chains.
"why?" I question gaining a slight bit of confidence.
"Today is our annual holiday dinner and you will be the one to get everything prepared and set up to my exact specifications." He informs me with finality.
Without another word I rise from the slab and wait for further orders. Before anything else is said a maid comes into the room with a small pile of clothes and I am ordered to put them on with the alpha himself still standing there. After I am finished, I tuck my head low to my chest and silently follow the alpha through the dark winding halls and up the even darker staircase. Once we reach the top and step through the door the lights of the main house assault my eyes. Luckily, after blinking a few times my eyes begin to adjust and I can make out my surrounding. To my right is the dead end of a hallway and to my left is the rest of the hallway that I assume leads to the kitchen or gathering room. My assumptions are proven correct when we reach the end of the hall and I am greeted by a magnificent kitchen. The cabinets are a dark rich wood color and the counters shine of white with black lines and swirls. Many female cooks are busy at work preparing the feast for tonight. I hardly have time to admire the beauty as I am quickly being ushered into the next room which happens to be the grand dining room.
In here I am given my orders and before I have time to even process them a broom and dustpan are shoved into my hands. Quickly getting to work I begin the tedious task of sweeping the massive room. Stopping only briefly to admire the beautiful paintings and catch my breath. After I have finished with the floors, I begin wiping down the numerous tables making sure they are spotless. If I even leave so much as a speck on one table I will for sure wish I were dead come tonight. My next task is to meticulously set the tables which will house at least one hundred and fifty wolves tonight.
Before I am able to move on to my next task a loud crash catches my attention and an unfamiliar scent invades my nose. Next shouting begins to rise, and it seems as if all hell breaks loose. Not knowing what is going on I run to the far wall of the dining hall and taking cover behind a large cabinet. There is just enough space for my frail body to squeeze into the little hole behind it. The unfamiliar scent gets stronger as the invaders seem to near but then quickly begin to fade again. By this time, I figure that we are being attacked. Being an omega means that no one will protect me so if I am discovered there will be no stopping whatever reign of terror these invaders choose.
The minutes seem to tick by slowly as the howls of males in mid shift echo through the air and the sound of flesh being torn assaults my ears. There is a part of me that secretly hopes the entire pack is destroyed, but I know that isn't likely with how well trained the warriors are. So, I push my hopes aside as I continue to shelter in place riding out the storm.
After what seems like hours the howls and blood curdling screams die down. the smell of the invaders only lingers now telling me that who ever it was has left. Slowly rising from my crouched position, I shimmy out of my hiding spot and into the light of day again. The dining hall is empty and eerily quiet. Thinking its odd that no one has come to make sure I have not escaped I slowly make my way towards the kitchen. When I step into the massive room my nose and eyes are assaulted with the stench and sight of bloody bodies. They are everywhere and I run to the trash can almost tripping and vomit. After I have emptied my stomach, I make my way towards what I assume is the front door. Outside the main house is nothing but a field of dead bodies. I walk carefully through the maze and eventually stumble across the alphas body. Freezing momentarily, I realize that the pack is no more, and I am free of their terror. Taking a deep breath, I look up towards the trees and decide this is my chance to get out of here and I begin my journey towards the border.
.................
The trees are thick, and branches hang low all around me. I have no idea where I am or what direction I am going, but I must keep moving. The sun has started to set, and the temperature is dropping drastically. The thin shirt and pants I currently wear do nothing to protect me against the elements. The howl of wolves' echo in the distance and I cannot tell if they are those of pack members or rogues. The thought of rogues in this area terrifies me. Even though I have been locked up my entire life I have heard stories about them. I have been cell neighbors with them. They are vicious and show no mercy and I would really prefer not to cross paths with one.
A howl rings through the air again but this time it is much closer. Fearing for my life I begin to run as fast as my weak legs will carry me. Looking behind myself to see if I am being followed causes me to not see the large branch on the ground and I trip. I put my hands out to catch myself but end up hitting my face anyways. Getting up to my hands and knees I swipe my hand under my nose and pull it away to see blood. Before I have a chance to react to the blood a loud set of growls echo around me. I look up and am met with the eyes of a very angry large grey wolf. Quickly shifting onto my butt I back up until my back hits something hard. Glancing behind me I see that it is just a tree. Surveying my surrounding for a possible escape I realize I am surrounded. The grey wolf who I made eye contact with disappears behind tree, then returns in human form sporting a pair of sweatpants and a hoodie. Slowly he approaches me with a pissed of look.
"What are you doing in our territory rogue?" he spits at me.
"rouge?" I ask in confusion.
"Yes, you. You stupid rogue. What the hell are you doing crossing into our territory.?" He hisses as the venom in his voice continues to grow.
"I-I'm not a rogue." I state in an attempt to clarify things.
"Well you sure do smell like one. Now answer the question." He demands once again.
"I-I didn't know this was another packs territory. I was running from what I thought were rogues in the distance." I defend.
"A rogue running from a rogue that's a new one." He snorts.
For a brief moment he pauses and his eyes glass over like he's talking to someone in his mind. Then all the other wolves disappear and reappear in human former fully clothed. They all vary in height but none of them meet the height of the guy in front of me. I assume he must be the beta because of the power radiating off him. Its not alpha level but its close.
"The alpha is on his way and he will decide what to do with you." He snorts as if he isnt pleased with this.
Staying silent I huddle myself closer to the tree and begin to fear for my life. This man before me seems like he wants to rip me to shreds. So, who is to say that this alpha will not do worse? I am in no shape to fight and I have never had an opportunity to learn so trying anything at this moment would mean certain death. To think I that I had escaped hell was surely a mistake if I am in yet another horrendous situation. The pounding of paws against the hard cold ground causes my heart rate to pick up. The closer he gets my nostrils begin to flare at the most delicious smell I have ever smelled. My eyes dart around in search of the source of this heavenly smell. Then my eyes lock onto the massive black wolf that rivals the size of my now dead alpha. He lets out a low deep growl before disappearing behind a tree just like all the others did. A few seconds later he steps out from behind the tree and stands in front of me never once breaking eye contact.
"Mate." He bellows out."
