Boardroom Execution

1003 Words
Billionaire's Regret: Previously Marcus Vaughn sets a challenge between his niece Siena and his protege Elena that will decide their futures—a multi-billion dollar global tech merger. Siena, driven by arrogance, calls Elena a "charity case" and resorts to deception to secure victory. Meanwhile, in Delhi, Ethan Thorne is having sleepless nights. He's trapped by a nostalgia and a cheap brass earring that constantly reminds him of Elena. Now it's time for the battle he's prepared for during sleepless nights in Singapore. As calm as the Singapore morning seemed, the atmosphere on the 50th floor of Vaughan Towers was equally explosive. It was only five minutes to 9, but the boardroom of Vaughan Estates felt more like a battlefield than a corporate office. This was the room where a single signature could change the fate of the world's biggest companies. Today, the city's biggest investors, tech giants, and board members sat there, each one of their glances sharp as a sharp sword. Just then, the door opened, and Siena Vaughan stepped into the room. A triumphant smile graced her face, as if she were about to be crowned with victory. She wore an expensive pink Valentino dress, its sheen even more intense in the boardroom lights. Siena's gait had the swagger of aristocratic ancestry. She was confident that her "fake but brilliant" report, prepared in Paris, would be enough to impress Marcus Vaughan and the board. Elena entered right behind her. Unlike Siena, Elena was completely calm. Her eyes held neither Siena's excitement nor nervousness. She wore a black formal suit, making her new demeanor even more serious. Dolly was already sitting in her seat in a corner. As soon as Elena took her place, Dolly quickly opened her laptop and, from under the table, gave Elena a thumbs-up, clearly signifying, "The Brahmastra is ready." Marcus Vaughn checked his watch. At exactly 9 o'clock, he cleared his throat and said in a deep voice, "Ladies and gentlemen, the Vaughn Estate's next big leap rests on this 'Global Tech Merger.' Siena, you'll be the one to start." Siena stood up confidently. She began her presentation. The screen flashed with colorful graphs, promises of 40% profits, and grandiose promises of the future. There was a magic in Siena's voice; she knew how to play with words. The board members looked at each other and nodded—they were impressed. Siena paused for a moment, looked at Elena, and muttered in a voice so soft only Elena could hear—"Get ready to get back on the road, Charity Case!" Siena finished her presentation. The entire board room erupted in applause. Marcus Vaughn's face was mysteriously silent. He gestured toward Elena, "Miss Vaughn, it's your turn now." Elena rose from her seat. She didn't pick up any files, any papers. She went straight to the projector and grabbed the remote. But surprisingly, she didn't start her presentation. She pressed the remote and opened the page of Siena's presentation where the highest figure for future profits was written. The entire room was stunned. Siena laughed loudly, "What happened, Elena? Did you forget to bring your report that you're copying from me?" A cold, sharp smile appeared on Elena's face. Looking the board members in the eyes, she said, "Siena, business isn't driven by figures, it's driven by 'truth.' A building built on lies can collapse at any time." Siena's face suddenly went pale. "You... what nonsense are you talking about? Uncle, this is an insult to me!" Elena raised her voice even higher and sterner, "These figures you see, claiming 40% profits... they're not part of any research. They're fake data purchased at a high price from a 'dark server' in Paris. The data-mining firm Siena mentioned declared bankruptcy three months ago." Whispers erupted in the room. Elena pointed to Dolly. Dolly pressed a button, and the screen suddenly displayed the real data hidden behind Siena's presentation, along with the names of the people who commissioned this fake report. "Siena Vaughn has put the Vaughn estate's legacy at stake by offering a deal that would have led to a $3 billion loss over the next six months. This isn't a merger, it's a suicide attack for the Vaughn estate," Elena said, emphasizing each word. Siena was stunned. She began to tremble. The board members were now staring at Siena angrily. Marcus Vaughn stood up from his chair. His eyes were red with anger, but he was also surprised by Elena's cleverness. Marcus looked at Siena and shouted, "Siena! Is this true?" Siena had no answer. She just kept stammering. Marcus signaled to the guards and said, "Take Siena out. Her inheritance and all her rights are terminated right now. There is no place for traitors in the Vaughn estate." Siena was humiliated and had to leave the room. She glared at Elena with hatred as she left, but to Elena, that was no longer there. Markus Vaughn came to Elena. He placed his hand on Elena's shoulder in front of everyone and said proudly, "Today you didn't just save a business deal, you removed the veil from my eyes. From today, you are not just my student. From today, you are the Chief Strategist of Vaughan Estate's Singapore office. My empire is now safe in your hands." The board room erupted in applause, but Elena's eyes were fixed on the horizon outside the window. She muttered to herself, "One thorn has been removed, Ethan. Now it's your turn. Siena's pride was just the beginning; I will tear down your kingdom, brick by brick." Meanwhile, in Delhi, Ethan Thorne held the same old earrings. He suddenly sneezed violently, and a strange uneasiness gripped his heart, as if someone were holding a sword to his neck. He had no idea that the countdown to his doom had begun. What will be Elena Vaughn's first public move? Will Ethan Thorne find out about this 'new Vaughn heir'? And who will Sienna Vaughn team up with to avenge her humiliation?
