REVENGE

Chapter 2

  “ALEX...baby thank god you are here” Marina tried sitting up. Alex run to help her. “ Where is our baby. Please tell me she is alright. When I woke up I didn’t saw you or our baby I got so worried” she looked at Alex and saw him distress. “Honey  what happened? Why are you so stressed. Is this about our daughter?” she questioned him worriedly.

“ No! No baby our daughter is perfectly alright, she just has a little problem in breathing that’s why she is in incubator. Doctors said she will be alright you don’t have to worry” he assured her.

“Oh! OK “ she is feeling sad for her baby. They were so excited about the baby. They have been married for five years and wanted baby right away but after so many  fruitless tries they lost hope. Pregnancy came as a surprise and when she told Alex about it he was over the moon. Last nine months they were so happy even with Marina mood swings but when the time to hold their baby come she is in incubator.

A doctor enters the room breaking them out if their trance. “Hello, Mrs Smith you are awake. How are you feeling now?” she smiled at her “ I am feeling good doctor. How is my baby?” she look at the doctor hopefully.

 “Mrs Smith, your baby is stable now, a nurse will bring her to you. I came here to tell you that”   she thanked  the doctor. Alex still lost in his own world didn’t say anything and looked outside the window. After a moment door opened and a nurse wheeled a cot in the room.

“Alex look she is here” she point out happily. Alex went to the nurse and took the baby from her hand. He kissed her on head and hand her to Marine who are waiting patiently to take her.

“She is so beautiful. Isn’t she Alex” she asked  him “ Yes, just like you” he said smiling big. She laughed at his cheesy line. “ So, what are we going to name her?”.

“I like the name Anor. What do you think.” Anor is a good name he thought but he wanted to give her daughter a good and unique name. “Anor is good but I like the Nora more” .

“Nora Arianna Smith” they both liked the name it fits perfectly. A nurse entered the room with the documents “ Sir, did you name her or you need more time”.  They filled her birth certificate and the nurse handed them Nora’s birth certificate. “Alex  when can we go home. I don’t like it in here” she looked uncomfortable. “ They are going to discharge you tomorrow. Don’t be sad I am here with you” he looked lovely at her pouting wife leaned down and kiss her on the lips. She turned red even after five years of marriage she still her shy whenever Alex show her affectation.  

A loud wail coming from their baby cause them to part. “I think she I hungry. Please bring  her to me”. Handing the baby to Marine he told her that he is going to cafeteria for coffee “ Do you need anything?” Marina shook her head negatively.

While walking towards toward cafeteria Alex though how life changes in a second. They were living a happy and simple life but in a moment his hands is covered with human blood. It impressive how one moment can change your entire life. Suddenly, he feel suffocated and wanted to through up. For fresh air he moved out of hospital  and started walking towards part.

Marina loves her husband so much that’s why she didn’t tell him about her dream. She can see how distress he is but she feels like a criminal. She tried to assure herself that the mother and daughter are safe but her sixth sense is telling her something else. In addition, her dream remind her of the accident every time she closes her eyes. Only thing which is keeping her sane is her daughter. Marina can’t sleep all she did is to look at the white plain seling of her hospital room.

After hours of aimlessly strolling at the park Alex went back to the hospital. Upon entering the room he saw Marina crying “What happened? Why are you crying?” she doesn’t look at him “ Marina  please look at me, you are scaring me. Please tell me what happened? Are you in pain.”

“ No, I am not in any pain I just remember the incident. Alex please tell me  are they alright” Alex is looking everywhere but at her “ They died. I am sorry” h3 heard Marina sobbing with steady stream of tears moving down her cheeks. “ Your sorry is not going to bring them back. I told you to stop and help them but you didn’t listen to me. Why Alex! Why!” he hugged her tightly like he is holding his last hope. Rocking her back and forth whispering sweet things in her ears. Soon Marina falls asleep but for Alex sleep doesn’t come easily that night.

Next morning, the weather was gloomy like the feeling of Alex and Marina. They didn’t say a word to each other not even good morning, It’s like they are avoiding each other. Soon it’s time to go home, after getting ready and signing the discharge paper they come out of hospital. After strapping the baby Alex started driving. Their friends and family has arranged a welcome party in their house.

Alex and Marina both belongs to the middle class family. They wanted to give their children the best future which they couldn’t have that’s why they both work their heads of to build what they have now. A double story modern house with good furniture and a good car. They have also saved money for their children’s. When they reach their home they saw everyone with balloons and welcome baby posters. For the passage of time they both forget about the accident and become a lovely couple again.
