REVENGE

Chapter 1

Friday, a beautiful sunny day and for some people a holy day. But for Smith family it is the day when everything goes down the hill. In the early morning when  the birds sings the song of love, peace and innocence with the cold breeze of early winter passes through the lush green grass, small plants and leaves of trees. It’s started as a common day for Smith family. They don’t know that their life is going to change dramatically.

“Honey, honey where are you?” Marina  shouted from her bedroom. Alex who is making coffee in the kitchen run to her.

“What happened? Why are you shouting?” He asked worriedly. Marina is standing in the middle of the room she looked at him “ shouting, yes I am shouting and you know why I am shouting because my dame water just broke “

He got stunned. “ let’s go what are you doing standing there and just looking at me. Go and start the car or I’ll kill you with my bare hands” she shouted at him. He run fast to the car, then remember that Marina will need help with the baby bag and went to her and took the bag with one hand and offered his other hand for her to hold. Upon  reaching the car he fastened her seat belt and put the baby bag in the back seat.

“Please drive fast. Why its so painful. Ahhhhh.... I will never let you touch me again. Ahhhhh....” she moaned in pain. He looked at her apologetically “Darling I am really sorry. I promise it will end soon”. As he was looking at her he didn’t saw a girl and her mother crossing the road. Hitting both of them with the car they went flying.

 “ Alex stop the car. They need our help” Marina shouted at him. Alex speed up the car not stopping to help the injured woman and her daughter. He is scared that cops will arrest him and his first priority is his pregnant wife who need to be at the hospital. “ I can’t. Cops will arrest me and put me behind the bar for killing someone. Also I have take you to the hospital first.”

“WHAT? You are going to let them die just like this” Marina shouted. “ No, no absolutely not. I am going to call 911 and tell them about the accident and their location” he assured her this time giving full attention to the road.

After five minutes they reached the hospital. He took His wife to the receptionist and ask her to call the doctor. A doctor having heard her cries, rushes over to them. She doesn’t say anything  as she hurriedly leads Marina down the hall. Three long hours after Doctor came out of operation theatre. “How is she doctor. How is my wife and baby doing?” He asked the doctor anxiously.

“Mr. Smith your wife is perfectly alright but I cannot say the same thing about your daughter. She is very weak and has a difficulty in breathing on her own. We have put her in incubator which will help her in breathing till she will be able to breathe”. She looked at him in sympathy.

“What how can this be possible. She was healthy when we checked last time”. He told the doctor. “ I know sir, but sometimes stuff like this happens. You don’t have to worry she will be alright in no time”. Doctor assured him.

Exhausted after delivering a baby Marina fell asleep. In her dream she saw the mother and the daughter covered in blood calling her name, asking her to save them. They took hold of Marina hands and they are pulling her with them in darkness. She stated shouting calling Alex to save her but no one came.” Alex... ALEX....HELP”.

 She jolted awake from her dream. Blinded by the bright light in the room she closed her eyes again. After a moment she got used to of the lighting in the room. She looked around the pure white room with a white empty cot frantically looking for her husband. Suddenly her gaze fell on her stomach where she didn’t saw the bump, then she look at cot trying to find her baby. But the room was empty.

“ALEX .....ALEX .....THEY TOOK MY BABY. ALEX THEY TOOK HER”. She screamed. Nurses after hearing the screams come running into the room. Her heart monitor is beeping so fast. “Mam,  please calm down try to take deep breaths” nurse tried to calm her but she is thrashing around.

“Nurse give me the injection” doctor said when she entered the room. Marine is still screaming and thrusting, calling her husband to save her and their baby. Doctor injected her. After some time she relaxed and fall asleep.

Alex looking at her daughter in incubator covered in wires. His heart broke after seeing her daughter like this. His eyes become filled with tears ‘’ Please God please save my daughter. Please” he chanted like a spell. In this moment he remembered about the accident ‘’ Is this karma that’s why my daughter is facing this, because of me?” He whispered.

Looking at her daughter for the last time he went out of the room. Starting the car he started driving to where accident happened. Upon reaching he asked people about the accident. One old woman who owned the flower shop said to him “ Poor women! She was a lovely lady. God bless her soul but some baster hit her with his car and run away not just killing her also her daughter”.

“Killed..... are they dead” he stutter. “Yes, are you her husband or relative” old woman asked suspiciously. He is tongue tied not knowing what to say he turns around  and started walking toward his car. . He started  driving not knowing where he is going when he stopped the car and looked up he was in front the hospital. Walking toward her wife room he feels nothing but guilt.
