Finally, the metallic black luxury car reached its destination. The remote control opened the large gate. The car drove quietly to the house's front yard. Several people were busy moving back and forth, carrying various items that Noah didn't really care about.
It was a flurry of activity leading up to Harry's wedding. Their mother had invited some of the closest people to gather. The wedding organizer had meticulously organized everything, so there was no need to discuss the wedding.
"Should I be honest with her about who I really am?"
Harry turned his head, looking at Noah, who seemed half-dreamy. Harry wasn't sure if the question was meant for him. The car had stopped, and the driver got out to open the door.
"If you believe her, then there's no reason for you to deceive her anymore," Harry said.
"Come on, get out," Harry invited as the driver opened the door.
Reluctantly, Noah got out of the car. He took a deep breath, and his mind began to fret. There was a very clear decision about his intentions. Noah only wanted to find a woman who was truly sincere towards him. But it seemed his intention was to make a woman want to marry him.
"How long have you been with her?" asked Harry.
"A few years. Mmm... I think it's been three years or so."
"And for all that time, she still doesn't know who you really are?"
Noah was silent, which Harry could understand.
"You're too complicated, Bro. However, I salute you for having a secret lover. She's still able to put up with you being a regular employee." Harry chuckled, while Noah just smiled.
"Hey, I don't know what your bride-to-be's name is yet," asked Noah, who had just realized his ignorance.
"You just read it yourself on the invitation card. Also, you can rate how the invitation card looks because she's the one who designed it and chose the colors.
Welcome home, bro."
Noah blinked his eyes. He didn't realize he was already inside the house. Noah's mind was in turmoil. He was not at peace. He kept thinking about Lea. Noah felt as though he had a premonition about something that had to do with him and Lea.
Noah tried to think positively. He also tried to calm himself down so that his preconceived notions would be wrong. Noah promised himself that he would call Lea as soon as he was in the room.
"Noah!"
A woman in a long, below-the-knee dress colored light leaf green called out from the doorway. Her hair was, as usual, pulled back into a bun and adorned with a flower hairpiece.
Noah smiled happily. His mother's exclamation momentarily erased his anxiety. Noah rushed over to his mother and hugged her tightly. Everyone who looked at them smiled in appreciation. It was obvious that Noah loved his mom very much.
After releasing him from her eldest son's arms, his mother said, "It's a good thing you're home."
"There's no way I'm staying there while this flirtatious human gets married," Noah said.
"Hust!" Sophie reprimanded her son, but she didn't mean it seriously.
Everyone laughed.
Harry said that he wanted to eat. It was almost lunchtime, and his stomach was starving. Sophie asks her assistant to tell the guests in the other room that she's going to have an important conversation with the groom-to-be when, in fact, she wants to join her sons for lunch.
Sophie sat next to Noah, thoughtfully staring at her eldest son, but a faint smile etched her lips.
"You don't mind if Harry precedes you in marriage, do you?" Sophie asked gently.
"No problem. I'm just not ready for it yet. It's okay, Mum," Noah replied as he gently stroked the back of his mother's hand to calm her down.
"Harry told me that you already have a girlfriend."
Noah quickly looked at his brother. The glint in his eyes conveyed a sharp assault. But Harry didn't seem to care. He continued to calmly slice his steak.
"You should have gotten married first. How hard could it be for you to introduce her to us?" Sophie continued.
"She's too complicated, Mom," Harry replied. "Too much drama."
"Isn't this a secret between men?" Noah said it irritably, but Harry laughed.
"Don't be long. After Harry's wedding, I hope it's yours." Sophie had sweet wishes for her eldest son.
Noah didn't answer his mom's words of hope and preferred to occupy himself with his food. Noah didn't dare make any promises to his mom. It was wrong to give him hope.
"Mum, Noah wants to see the invitation card," Harry said after sitting in front of the dining table.
"Oh, yeah? Just a minute." Sophie spoke softly to one of the waiters, who nodded politely in return.
"Are there many invitations that haven't been distributed yet, Mum?" asked a slightly worried Harry.
"There are only a few left. Your wedding was a spurr-ofthe moment thing, so there's always a new list of people we want to invite," Sophie O'Connor explained.
Sophie turns to look at her eldest son, who has just put food in his mouth. There's a sadness in her eyes.
The young waitress Sophie had instructed appeared with the invitation card. Sophie smiled as she accepted it and handed it to Noah.
"You can give this invitation to your mysterious lover," Shopie said with a gentle smile.
Noah accepted the invitation card with a strange surprise in his heart. The red color dominated, reminding Noah of Lea. The cover featured the initials of the bride and groom in gold tin, 'LH'.
'L for Lea.'
The words of the statement slipped into Noah's mind. Feeling anxious, Noah just flipped through the invitation card.
"How was it?" asked Harry, which was also a reprimand for Noah, who was daydreaming.
"Ha? What?" asked Noah, who had forgotten Harry's request to assess the invitation card.
"The invitation card. Is it good?"
Noah nodded his head. "Yes. It's good. Your woman is skilled at designing them."
"That's why I chose her to be my future."
"What's her name?" asked Noah with an increasingly heart-clenching feeling.
"Just open it. You can read it yourself," Harry replied.
After taking a deep breath, Noah slowly broke the seal. He carefully removed a piece of the invitation card from the cover and read the bride's beautifully printed name.
Lea Steel was her name.
