Chapter 7: The Moon’s Choice The "pre-shift" symptoms hit me like a freight train as we walked into the woods behind the clubhouse. Every nerve ending was on fire. I wanted to scream, to run, to bite. "Breathe, Loyalty," Jax murmured, his hand on the small of my back. He was using his hybrid abilities to send a soothing, rhythmic pulse of energy into my spine. "Focus on my heartbeat. Sync with me." We reached the clearing just as the moon hit its peak. My brothers formed a wide circle around us, their motorcycles idling in the distance like a low, mechanical growl of protection. Then, it happened. The bones in my legs snapped and reformed. I hit the grass with a cry, but before I could spiral into the pain, Dimitri was there, his eyes glowing a deep, ancient red. He leaned down, whispering in my ear in a language I didn't know, but my soul understood. It was a soldier’s mantra—a call to stay disciplined through the chaos. Mateo let out a deafening howl, shifting into a massive, golden-furred wolf beside me. He nuzzled his head against my shoulder, offering his strength, his scent of cedar and earth grounding me to the world. I let go. The magic and the wolf inside me finally welded together. I didn't just turn into a wolf; I turned into a force of nature. My fur was a shimmering, moon-white, but my eyes... they remained that swirling, brilliant emerald green. I stood on four paws, taller and stronger than any wolf in the pack. I looked at the three men who were now part of me. The Council emerged from the trees, silver chains rattling, their faces set in masks of hatred. But they stopped when they saw the sight before them. The MC President and his brothers on one side. A Vampire, a Hybrid, and a Wolf on the other. And in the center, a white wolf with eyes like the moon. I didn't whimper. I roared. The air didn't just vibrate anymore; it shattered. From the dark perimeter of the clearing, the shadows began to breathe. Silas and his Council enforcers froze, their silver chains clinking as they realized they weren't just facing three outsiders and a girl—they were facing a legacy.
