I had no idea what to expect once we reached the border of the witches' territory. All I knew was that it was the safest place for Katya, and I was willing to offer anything in exchange for passage and temporary shelter. As we approached the border, I could feel the crackling of magic in the air, creating an invisible barrier that made it impossible to pass through.
