Annie's POV: The carts moved out at dawn. I sat in the back of the medical wagon with the bandages and the jars—Jack wedged between me and a sack of herbs. The pack's houses slid past. The square fell behind. The road opened ahead. The column stretched behind us—carts and warriors. The pack lined the road to see them off. The pups ran alongside the wagons until they could run no more. Jack watched them from the rail and waved at every one of them. Elena stood at the gate with the elders. She was staying.
