Annie's POV:
My stomach turned.
"I want you to come with me."
I blinked. "What?"
"Come to the front lines. Bring Jack."
"Jasper, that's—"
"I know it's dangerous," he said quickly, cutting me off. "I know it's not ideal. But Annie, think about it. If I leave tomorrow and you stay here, you're alone. Elena won't touch you while I'm in the pack, but that's all she's promised. What happens when I leave? What happens when she cools down and starts thinking clearly?"
He shook his head.
"You have no wolf. You can't fight. You can't outrun a warrior. You can't sense danger before it arrives. And you have Jack to protect. A five-year-old boy who doesn't have a wolf either."
Every word landed like a nail driven into reality.
