POV Zander
Why would Stonewall Pack be on a note in the orphanage’s file? Surely something like this would’ve been detailed in the Alpha Book I was handed down. “Dr. Gable are you sure you read the note clearly? And it was our name listed on it? Was there anymore information in the file that could be useful?” I’m sure she was about to fill us in but I couldn’t stop myself from asking anyway. “I’ll bring a copy of the report to you to look over immediately in case I’ve missed anything, from what I can tell from her intake paperwork she was turned into the facility, this wasn’t a case where she was removed from a home, the names were left blank as though they were never given, sometimes on sealed cases the names are simply blacked out with ink, but in this case there was no information, no medical history, no birth place, it’s simply her name, description, with a photograph of her from the intake. The file does include her history while she was there, foster homes, legal issues” she said glancing at Alex “and finally the date they declared her delinquency from the facility closing her file.” I smirked knowing Alex had always been as feisty as the evening I met her in the garage. “Thank you Dr. Gable for your work I’d love that file when you get a chance, I’ll relay this information to the council if you have not already done so.” Dr. Gable looked almost lovingly at Alex, “One last thing, I’ve been testing Alex’s blood that we drew prior to her IV there was zero trace of wereblood detectable once we manipulate it with the medication it alters it’s makeup almost entirely, which I’m sure is why she’s been completely undetectable until now. Whoever did this was extremely powerful and I suspect had a reason for it. I’ve never seen such a complete genetic alteration done before successfully.” “I understand Doctor, Thank you” I nodded as Dr. Gable made her way out of my office. Alex had sat in silence the entire time, I looked her over studying the worried line growing on her forehead. I needed to speak with the elder council immediately with this new information but I knew I couldn’t leave her yet, I almost wished I hadn’t sent Tytus with Kyle, I knew she’d be comfortable with him after the news she just received, almost I’ll wait until later and email the documents I have over the council was already looking into things this would just point them in the right direction.
“Alex honey do you want to go lay down? I know this has been a lot” I said softly trying not to startle her. Her eyes shot with lightening towards me, “Would one of you kidnap a child?!” she questioned angrily. "Of course not! Something like that would be grounds for immediate death, it has never been tolerated in this Pack. I don't know what kind of shifters you have been exposed to in your line of work" I sneered " but it is not something we do." Alex's eyes quickly softened, "I'm sorry Zander I..." "Its okay but you need to understand I'm going to get to the bottom of this and I can promise you if Stonewall Pack was ever involved there is no way it was malicious" I pressed my forehead into hers and I felt her body relax. Alex lifted her head away, "You really don't need to go through my record you know, I'm sure Dr. Gable looked over every inch before coming to you." "What is it you don't want me to see?" I c****d my eyebrow "was someone a bad girl?" I smirked. "Let's just say I wasn't the teachers pet when I was there" Alex replied. "Listen I'm sure there's nothing in there that's going to surprise me, you're forgetting I almost hired you, I know exactly what you do and those skills don't just come out of nowhere. But knowing you're a wolf does explain some of it" "I wasn't a wolf then remember. From what Dr. Gable says there wasn't a single part of me that would have been which includes any of those skills" Alex's voice was stern and unwavering. "You're right, but regardless Kyle had done a pretty thorough check on your past jobs to ensure your quality of work" I took her hand "is there actually going to be something in your file that is worse than what you do for a living? Because I doubt it and regardless you're still my mate and I still have every opportunity of making you mine." I saw Alex shiver at my last comment, good I wanted her mind off whatever had her so worried. There was nothing I was going to read that would change how I felt about this woman. "Okay you're right, its just I haven't thought about those days in years, and not even Tytus knows about my past, and here you about to know everything and maybe even more than I even do about myself" Alex said with sadness in her voice. My little pixie had scars that I had every intention on healing, first step finding out why my pack was noted on her file.

I took Alex to our room at the top floor of the Pack house, I'd suggested she shower to make herself feel better. I didn't have any of the soaps and lotions that I knew women liked to smell nice but I'd be sure by after dinner she'd have everything she could possibly want in there, hopefully she could get by in the mean time I had no problem with her smelling like me. The thought of her running my sponge over her smooth body, the water dripping between her breasts and down past her navel, soap slowly slipping down between her thighs, mmmm I wanted to enjoy every part of her and then wash her clean myself. I shifted adjusting as my crotch started to become increasingly uncomfortable against my jeans, I needed to focus. I pulled out my laptop hearing the shower still running, I needed to update the elders on what Dr. Gable had found so we could get to the bottom of this. Almost instantly my e-mail dinged in reply,
Alpha Zander,
We need to discuss this matter in person. Please report to the council hall as soon as possible.
Regards,
The Elder Council
Shit. This can't be good. There were very few things anymore that needed a formal briefing they must have found something prior to my update from Dr. Gable. I stood up and knocked on the bathroom door, it took everything I had to not just walk in but I was trying to let Alex adjust and it seemed to me barging in would be the last thing she would want at the moment. I knocked again, "Alex I need to meet with the Elders I'll be back as soon as possible." "Okay" she shouted. I turned and quickly headed out of the Pack house, the council hall wasn't far but it was located on the west side of the grounds. Alex would be fine, I reminded myself, she's safe here.
"Alpha Zander" Grayson nodded, as I entered the hall. He was one of the oldest members sitting and we'd always had a good relationship, he had trained my father growing up, assisting in my Alpha training as well. He was more of a grandfather figure to me than anything else even though when in meetings he treated me as an equal. I knew the other council members but they were all from various backgrounds and packs so none of which I had a personal relationship with. "What did you find?" I inquired. "Why don't we have a seat a few other members will be joining us before we begin" Grayson stated. I nodded and followed him to the front of the long council table and took a seat. There were eight seats around one side of the table for each of the elders, Grayson took the seat in the center as always soon after two other elders entered the hall, Maxwell and Artimus sat on either side of him, they both look greyed at weathered like they've seen years of battles, similarly to Grayson they had once been high ranking members of their own packs before they joined the council. A paper slid from Maxwell to Grayson and he glanced at it quickly before creasing it with his hand and clearing his throat, "Alpha Zander we have a very important matter to discuss about your visitor, we do feel it best to keep this on a need to know basis until we can gain further information." I nodded my head "What have you found?" "This may be troubling to you but it seems Alexis' parents had taken her away for protection. Their record was sealed do to the nature of the danger and essentially it was made to be like they never existed" Grayson stated. "So its true they were members of this pack?" I questioned. "Yes and No" Artimus spoke up, "her father was a member of your pack, but because her mother was not Alexis was not." Grayson slid the folded paper towards me without a word. Opening the letter I saw exactly why this was a closed session, I looked at the elders waiting for one of them to speak. Grayson looked intently at me, "you see now what we are dealing with, when you reached out to me I didn't fathom that this was the same girl. In truth I haven't thought about this in so long it slipped my mind. The three of us all lost family during these wars and had suffered quite a bit in the protection of this family." Maxwell pulled out a faded photograph from his blazer pocket glancing at it before handing it to me. I looked down, standing in the photo was a beautiful woman probably 5'8 curly brown hair draping down her back, she had steely grey eyes with rose lips, she almost sparkled out of the photograph, beside her was a tall broad man with slicked back black hair, he reminded me of my own father in how he carried himself in the photo stern and unwavering, he was grasping the hand of a little girl who couldn't be more than two, her hair looked almost white falling messily around her face and shoulders. She carried a tiny bear in her other hand clutched tightly to her chest. I looked up at Maxwell "your son?" I questioned. "Alexis" was the only thing he said. Looking back down at the photo I studied the little girl, she looked so carefree in the photo, though I don't know many troubled two year olds. I could see her features now in her parents, her mother's lips and her father's eye shape, I started piecing together the combination that made up the woman who had already taken my heart, again studying the photograph her mother seemed to draw me in. "She was the white wolf" Grayson said suddenly. I looked up at him, I'd heard stories of the white wolf but mostly I thought they were tales of years ago in a time long before any of us. "I didn't think" I stumbled. "She was under our protection" Maxwell stated, "she came to us as a young girl in the middle of a pack run, our Alpha and Luna took her in instantly and swore our pack to her protection." The white wolf was said to be a healer from what I could remember, blessed by the Moon Goddess herself. "So you're telling me Alex's mother was" Grayson cut me off with a nod. "She met Miles Stone during an Alpha gathering that she attended with the Silver Springs Pack, they were mated but at the time our pack was unable to provide the security she required. Because Miles was at the time set to be Alpha here he was forced to remain here as well. We forged a very close relationship with the Silver Springs pack during that time almost functioning as one" Grayson continued. "Wait, Alpha, but my father would have been Al-" "He stepped into place when Miles stepped away, his love for Selena and desire to be with her was stronger than anyone could have imagined, he realized it was interfering with his duties, as his best friend and Beta your father took his position.. As you know Alpha blood flows through your families blood as well so there was no contest at the time when the switch was made" Maxwell explained.
I walked out of the chambers with the photo Maxwell had given me in hand, I had more questions after the session with the elders but now I knew exactly why Alex's family had taken her, I assume her mother must have been able to suppress her wolf to keep her hidden from harm. Ironically the exact group I had hired Alex to gain intel from was the exact group her parents had been hiding her from. Apparently the Blood Riders had been trouble for longer than I had realized. Now how to protect Alex and remove the threat from my pack, I wouldn't have gone looking for an outside source if I could get close enough myself, this is going to be more difficult than I could imagine.
