Chapter Eleven Kayla rested a hand on the photo album Brett held. “Can I?” He hesitated then let her take it. “I took a couple of strands of your hair from your brush. I didn’t want to risk losing the bracelet.” He glanced down to where it encircled his wrist. Kayla opened to the first page and smiled at the young couple in the wedding photos. She saw similarities between Brett and the man. “Didn’t your father skip out on you and your mum?” “Yeah. Two months after the wedding. By then he’d got her pregnant and spent all her money. She didn’t have a fortune, but enough to make him want to marry her.
