EVERETT'S POV I didn’t remember most of the drive home. I was pretty sure I ran a red light on it though. One minute I was storming out of the club like a man who’d just been publicly humiliated, which I had been, and the next I was storming through the front door of the Ashbourne mansion , almost pushing the housekeeper down. And of course the first person I saw in the height of my anger, was my mother. She was standing in the foyer, with her arms folded on her chest and her face pinched.
