Chap 3
Elsa pov
"To Beevy Hill" I flashed a small smile as Damon instructed the driver. Damon reached for insulated paper bag beside him, placing it gently on my lap.
"Chamomile tea. Double honey," Damon said rubbing his head gently.
"And a lemon pastry, from that bakery you like" my eyes widened in surprise, but then this was not is first time of doing this.
"Don't look at me like that, your manager told me you skipped lunch."I stared down at the warm bag.
Her lips curled into a small smile "You shouldn't have, Damon. You're a f*****g Heir, not my personal driver." He nodded with a small "hmm"
"You know I'm not in for that nonsense" he replied smoothly, leaning back and closed his eyes.
"Besides, watching the paparazzi try to chase a Bentley is my favorite evening sport."
That was damon who always went out of his way for everyone as long he felt they deserve it. I stared at this man that helped to where I was today.
"Did you skip another board meeting" I asked with a light chuckle.
I released a sigh, I didn't realize that I was holding back.
."Rough day?" Damon asked softly, his eyes flickered opened still on the road ahead.
"Just... loud," Elsa murmured, wrapping her hands around the warm tea cup. "Everyone wants a piece of me lately, people with agenda, my mind flashed back with William as I wondered what exactly he we wanted after all he put me through.
"If the media found out, that the Queen goddess of cimena finds them loud, I'm sure they'll be heartbroken"He tried to lighten the mood.
"My only agenda tonight is making sure you actually eat that pastry," he said, a hint of amusement in his tone, that was when I realized I hadn't touched the pastry, I felt a low growl coming from my stomach.
"Sounds like thunder" he whispered below my earlobe with a playful nudge.
"Thanks" I managed to say despite my flushed cheeks. I had skipped lunch and had a apple pie as breakfast.
. "Also, ensuring you don't think about work for the next two hour".
" And makes sure to finish that" he eyed the half eaten pastry with me.
For a moment I felt the shadow of William faded away all into the peaceful silence.
"Okay" I smiled, taking a sip of the sweet tea.
"What happened" He looked back at me. " I have the feeling that it's not just about the parapazzi. It's fine, if you don't want to discuss"
"Just the usual" I cut him off snuggling my head against his arm as he stroke my hair carefully.
"Did he try to bully " His words came out as a whisper. I laughed out giving him a playful nudge.
"Just boring, odd stuff, sign the contract, renewal shits and public image nonsense" I felt him stiffen at the mention of public image nonsense. Soon he laughed out almost like he couldn't stop himself.
He cleared his throat. "The annual gala" His words barely over a whisper.
"Do you want to go " He asked me gazing intently for a moment I felt my heart skip a beat I had totally forgotten about the annual socialistic gala.
William had ruined my day, I forgot totally. A single mistake at the gala ruined hard built career living nothing but depressed celebrity, who later claims to go on a break just to vanish from the entertainment industry.
I always went with alone, every year and had watched my behavior, but this year something felt off, maybe because I met William again but sincerely I was more scared than any year.
"It will go fine, but if you don't want to. We could..." He trailed off with a raised brow.
"So, if I say I'm not going to go, you won't stop me" I blinked my eyelashes, pinching him with a scoff.
"Ouch.." he moaned, his eyes widen like it he was actually hurt.
"I'm going, alright and I'll be fine" I was sure, I would be fine, I would never let my hard work of all this years go to vain, because he reappeared.
"Damon" I looked up to him, with certainty "let's go together, I'll be your date"
At the Grand ballroom where chandelier hung high casting a sapphire like glow over the entire place, the media all over the place attention fixed on many arriving business men, Celebrity, social elite all out to catch the spot light for themselves with the usual fake smile tugging on the corners of their lips.
Our midnight-blue limousine arrived just in time for cameras to surround the car.
Security trying to clear the way. I looked out at the rushing camera trying hard to capture anything, as long it could keep the entertainment world busy.
l stepped out of the midnight-blue limousine, the flashing cameras immediately blinding me. Prepared to wear that pretty face again, I flashed a toothless smile.
I wore a crimson silk gown that hugged my curves flawlessly, my usual black raven hair was dyed colour to a reddish- brown with big curls that sculptured my face, I was aware of the beauty I had that left mouth agape, all eyes on me.
Damon walked over to my side, offering me his arms, his usual confident face curved into a protective dazzling smile. The smile that remained his charm.
I am the legendary, dignified actress the public adores, and I am definitely going to let everyone understand that. I am done with being weak.
With my gloved hands, I accepted his arm and linked with it, aware of the glances and whispers that filled the air, as the cameras continued their job.
"Relax your shoulders, beautiful," Damon murmured, his voice offering a soothing balm against the roaring crowd.
As a wealthy heir, and a lover of the entertainment industry, Damon has always been my fiercest supporter through her darkest times.
"I am relaxed. With you here, I always am." I returned his smile, with a soft "mmm" He guided us into the ballroom, head turned to us, chatters of the high- society came to an abrupt stop.
Immediately whisper filled the air, I was the new face of lox corporation and I arrived without a company escort.
That meant one thing, I had lost favor with the New CEO but was no one knew was that I will refuse his status over and over again, because only I knew what a monster he was.
"Look at her," a sharp voice whispered from a nearby champagne table. It was Chloe, a rival actress, who had took it upon herself to make my life a living hell for years.
"Arriving with Damon instead of a Lox executive? The rumors must be true. The mysterious new CEO had her replaced, So sad." She chuckled just enough for me to hear.
"I heard the new CEO refuses to even meet with her," another socialite chimed in, snickering.
"Her reign at Lox Company is over before it even began." I kept my chin high, ignoring all comment.
"I am fine, so please put on a smile " I glanced briefly at Damon, who eyed them through clenched teeth, before returning my gaze to the people who smiles had turned razor sharp.
I didn't need an announcer to get them to part way for us, some gave appreciative glances but some looked at with pure distaste.
We had barely made our grand arrival to a nearby champagne table.Suddenly gasps filled the air, the air felt cold, dangerous.
Damon and I locked gaze turning head, wondering whose grand entrance was enough to cause such spectacle.
A collective gasp rippled through the crowd as a bunch of security guards cleared a path. Walking at the center was a man, I would never forget even in my death bed.
Here he was making his second grand entrance. He wore a black tuxedo that emphasized his broad shoulders and commanding height.
As the newly revealed heir of the Lox family empire, and the CEO of lox corporation moving with imminent grace, he wore his mask of cold arrogance
He walked passed the business men, the directors, and the senior board members ignoring all the elite who desperately tried to greet him. but the moment his dark eyes scanned the room, they locked onto one person. Me
