She was at the window, watching the sun come up and the bunnies in the grass at the edge of the trees. There were five of them today. She hadn’t counted them the first time she had seen them, but she thought there had been more. Maybe some were hidden in the woods. Just because she thought there were fewer of them didn’t mean the wolves had eaten some. She hoped.
She looked around for the wolves but didn’t see any. She contemplated going outside and walked over to the screen door to look outside from there. Still no wolves. She cautiously stepped out onto the stoop, holding the door open beside her. Nothing but bunnies, who didn’t seem at all concerned.
