Their flight was uneventful. Thea read a lurid paperback. Morgan pretended to read a mystery but spent most of the flight thinking about her mother’s interview with Carol Stokzhen. Scotty was Scott and Carol’s oldest child and had been a studious kid, gotten good grades and was well-behaved. Scott had gone to the University of Florida on a football scholarship and had met Carol there. They moved to Hollowdale after graduating. After the divorce, Scott had moved back to Appleton, just outside Normal, Illinois, where his family was, and the kids visited him there several times a year although they lived with Carol.
