Two and a half weeks until the Solstice. She hadn’t talked to Jack since they’d had dinner at Basil’s. Scott Wellington didn’t call. Thea had called the number that Morgan had passed onto her from Jack and left her phone number, the correct spelling of her name and a brief synopsis of their findings and their subsequent meeting with Detective Rice. The officer on the other end of the line had asked her permission to record their conversation, so she assumed that happened. Thea said she could tell that her account must have closely matched Scott’s because the follow-up questions were regarding her credentials and fluency in the Latin language, and not about the items they had found or their meeting with Rice.
