Morgan purposefully didn’t look at the compound when she drove by. When she felt she had put enough space between it and her car, she started looking for a place to park it. She found an acceptable place about a mile and a half down the road. The sign in front of the old house said, “For Sale” and from all appearances, it looked empty. There were no cars in the driveway, no curtains in the windows and nothing in the way of porch furniture, potted plants, or other evidence of human habitation.
