Morgan found herself back in the old kitchen again. She looked around, but she was alone in the room. She walked over to the screen door and looked out at the backyard. The wolves were lying at the edge of the woods, with a couple cubs wrestling on the new grass. She tried to count the adults and came up with nine. She couldn’t be sure she wasn’t counting a few twice. Most of the adults appeared to be lying flat on the ground and it was hard to determine to whom heads and tails belonged to. If there were really nine, the pack had acquired two new members, besides the cubs. The wolves who were lying with their heads raised weren’t “her” wolf.
