First Day

Malia's POV: I woke up to the sound of my alarm clock when I realised that summer break was over and I needed to get back to college. I went into the bathroom to take a shower and put some make-up on. Some winged eyeliner and mascara, that has been my go to for years now. I put my skinny ripped black jeans and a black t-shirt on and went into my kitchen. I poured myself some coffee when I turned on the radio and listened to some rock music. That has been my daily ritual since I moved out of my parents house. I was just scrolling through i********: when it rang on my door and I knew exactly who it was. It was my best friend Alice. We have been friends since we can even remember. Our moms have been best friends since they went to college together, so I guess Alice and my friendship was meant to be right from the beginning. I drank up, put my leather jacket and my Dr. Martens on, grabbed my helmet and went out to meet Ali. She was waiting for me next to her motorcycle. "Hello sunshine" she laughed. Unlike me, she was a morning person that always has a good mood as soon as she wakes up. "Morning" I mumbled and got on my motorcycle. When we arrived at college our friends were already waiting for us next to our usual parking lot. There was Chris, a handsome man with black hair and his full arms covered in tattoos. We have been friends since high school and he was a person that could always understand me, eventhough no one else did. And next to him was Noah, Chris' best friend. He was very tall and trained, with brown hair and a nostril piercing on the right side of his nose. Chris just brought him to a movie night one day and since that day he has been a part of our group. "Hello there pretty ladies!" Chris smirked. "You're a dork" I laughed and hugged him. The first day wasn't that special, just like every first day after summer break. We decided to grab a coffee after classes and went to our favorite café right around the corner. "So Alice. Tell me about this i***t Joey that you have been seeing lately" Chris looked at her with a little smirk on his face. "What do you want to hear? We planned on seeing each other yesterday but he set me up" Ali looked down at her coffe without looking Chris in the face. "I told you he's an i***t. You deserve something better, someone that knows and appreciates your worth." He smiled kindly. Ali looked at me and started to change the topic without reacting to what Chris had just said. "Mal, it's your 21 bithday next week. What are the plans for this important night?" "Well, I don't know. I just wanna keep it simple and small. I thought that maybe you guys could come over and we drink some beer and watch some stupid movies" I shrugged. Noah shook his head "No Mal, that's not gonna happen. It's your 21 birthday, it needs to be something big!" "I agree with that" Chris and Alice said at the same time. "Maybe, I don't know. Let me think about that" I gave them a little smile and sipped from my coffee. I didn't like birthdays, especially not my own. I hated to be in the center of attention when everybody's looking at me. But maybe I'll consider it just to make them shut up. Right after we went to the house of Ali's parents because our moms planned a dinner with our families, just like every month. They invented this tradition back when we were kids and our parents always put so much effort into it.  We arrived at their house and Cole opened the door. Cole was Alice's older brother and since we were kids we couldn't stand each other because he always mocked me until then. He was a douche. "Hello little sister" He smiled and hugged Alice. After that he looked at me "Hello dwarf" He smirked and winked at me. He always used to call me like that because of my height that is 5'2". I knew that this isn't pretty tall, but I didn't like when someone mentioned it, and he knew that. I rolled my eyes at him and went into the living room. "Hey there sweetie" Alice's mom said and gave me a hug. Everybody said their hellos and we sat down at the dining table."Malia, what is your plan for next week? Do you have anyhting in mind?" my mom looked at me and smiled. Why did everyone bring up that my birthday was up to come? I hated it. "Nothing much, just a casual gathering with Ali and the boys." "You can't do that. It's your 21. It needs to be special. You can throw a party if you want. You could do it here." Ali's mom gave me a cute smile. "I'll think about it. Thank you!" I smiled back. We went on talking about college and some random stuff. We finished our food and Ali and I got up to head home. "Promise me that you'll consider my offer. You only get 21 once" Ali's mom smiled at me and gave me a hug. "Thank you Jean" I hugged her and went out to my motorcycle. When I was home I lied down on my bed and thought about Jean's offer. Maybe she's right, you only get 21 once and maybe it should be more special than a typical night with friends. I'll talk to Ali about it tomorrow, I bet she's gonna be pretty happy about that. I turned on the tv and driftet away after around 15 minutes of watching Family Guy.
