Alpha Brett P.O.V.
Our neighboring pack, the Moon Paws, suffered a bad fire last night. They lost a pup and his grandmother in the inferno. We worked tirelessly to put out the fire so it wouldn't spread. I was beyond exhausted by the time we decided it was time to venture back home.
We reached home in the early morning hours, and I was truly so exhausted. I quickly ate a little something. I barely made it through taking a shower before I passed out next to my lovely little mate. I swear, ever since my mate Falynn arrived, things have gotten extremely busy for me. It is always something happening that is pulling my attention away from her or someone else that needs my attention.
I slept until well past noon and felt a little like I had a hangover. I had just slipped into a pair of dark gray jeans, a gray t-shirt and a light gray hoodie as Beta Peter mindlinked me to come downstairs immediately.
I could hear yelling and then a slap..... I rushed forward to find Alpha Chancellor and Beta Ross standing in my foyer. "How in the world did they get in here?" I said to myself. Next, I smelled my delicious mate.....sourwood honey and gardenias. Falynn turned to face me, her eyes full of tears.... and a bright red handprint on her once flawless ebony cheek.
My wolf, Thorne, pushed forward, and I roared....rushing to Falynn and pulling her into my arms. "Who dare lay hands on my mate?" Thorne growled at them as I comforted her. My men quickly came in with a show of dominance surrounding our unwanted guests.
"Thorne, give Alpha Brett back control, please! She doesn't belong here and needs to go!" voiced a fuming Stephanie, daring to share her unwanted opinion with us. Falynn just wept in my arms as I felt her wolf, Blossom's anger.
Thorne roared at her and said,"Open your mouth again against my mate and I will rip your tongue out! Don't bother to speak again."
Looking panicky, Stephanie shared a look with Alpha Chancellor and Beta Ross. Then, she ran away crying, talking about how she deserves to be my Luna and not Falynn. I growled again at these two men who dared to enter my land without permission.
Beta Ross growled back at me. "Your mate? We don't recognize your claim on her and neither do your people! Luna Falynn is returning to the Black Claw Pack and retaking her place as our Luna!" I punched him square in the jaw, and he fell on his butt. An enraged Thorne roared loudly, shaking the entire building. I had to stop my wolf, Thorne, from completely shifting and killing both of them.
I snarled "Listen to me! Listen carefully and hear me well! Falynn and I are fate mates. Alpha Chancellor and Beta Ross, both of you ruined your chances with my fate mate. The Alpha King Graham Bellingham, blessed our union and discredited your awful pack for treating Luna Falynn so badly and lying about it. So leave my pack! Do not return! If I ever see either of you... anywhere near Falynn again... I won't hesitate to kill you all! Which one of you lay hands on her?"
I caressed her cheek...neither man chose to answer me. So I gently asked, "Who did it, Falynn?"
She whispered "Beta Ross!" as she tried to stop crying.
I snarled, "Which hand did you hit her with?" He chose not to respond. Instead, he chose to look at Alpha Chancellor. So I grabbed him and snapped first his left wrist.....then his right wrist. I looked at Beta Peter Parros and Gamma Maxwell and said "Throw out the trash!" And lifted Falynn in my arms, bringing her to my office.
I sat down with her in my lap..... I quietly asked, "What happened?" She just shook her head and said," I honestly have no idea! I had just walked out of my office and Alpha Chancellor grabbed me...... pulling me toward the door. He said I was coming home, and I informed him I was home. We struggled and I got free. Then, Beta Ross slapped me.....then my Hero rescued me."
"I need to know how they got on my land undetected and managed to get all the way into the packhouse. Someone is going to die, today. If I had lost you. I would have lost my mind." I informed her.
She smiled at me sadly and whispered," I think your godsister Stephanie had something to do with letting them onto the pack ground and all the way into the packhouse. She doesn't like me and has started a bunch of rumors to turn your pack members against me."
"I knew Stephanie wasn't happy with me finally discovering my mate, but enough to try to hurt her and separate us. Don't jump to conclusions! Get all the facts!" I informed my wolf Thorne, who was fuming and still seeing red.
"It's your mother and her mother's fault, for encouraging her for years that we would be fate mates. Then, when we didn't turn out to be fate mates still encouraging her. You thought she had finally gotten the idea of us being chosen mates out of her system. I been told you to put an end to that crazy line of thought, but no. Mr. Nice Guy didn't want to rock the boat, but I swear if it has come back to bite us by hurting our mate. I will sink the damn boat! I don't care what our mother thinks or feels on the matter." voiced my wolf, Thorne, sternly.
"I will get to the bottom of it and I will fix it. Don't worry!" I said, leaning down and kissing her passionately. I needed to calm Thorne and Blossom down.
Beta Peter Parros knocked on the door and walked in with Gamma Maxwell. Both had serious looks plastered all over their faces. When they had all taken a seat, I quickly launched in and asked, "How did those assholes get in?"
Beta Peter spoke first," Alpha! I have no idea! I was alerted to an Alpha at the border, requesting an audience...so I headed down to the gate. But Stephanie had already let them enter and into the packhouse. I was already grabbing for that d**k when he raised his hand, but I wasn't fast enough."
I looked at Gamma Maxwell to speak, and he said, "The four border guards are on their way in to see you. I immediately sent out replacements, so they could get in here! Plus, Stephanie is in the hall, crying awaiting to speak with us." I nodded and said let her in.
