11 - The Attempt - 2010

Pastor Melvin became so attached to Sobrina that she became scared. She had to gently tell him about her previous church experiences to keep him on guard. He wasn't disconcerted, but he kept himself in check as he later told her. He advised her to join the fellowship's foundation school - a process of becoming a full member of the fellowship. Even though he had no business at the foundation school venue, he would come around, just to make sure she was attending.

Before long, they were both remarked by other members of the fellowship, they were always seen standing or sitting at one spot or another around the fellowship's venue, discussing. Pastor Melvin was making sure Sobrina got planted effectively in the Lord, using the opportunity to get closer and closer to her.

One evening, Sobrina decided she was tired of the whole affair. She was supposed to be in fellowship after her lectures that day. She texted Pastor Melvin asking him to quit bothering her. Being a Christian and a member of the fellowship was too demanding, she couldn't do what it took. It's only been a few months but she was already so thin from having nothing, she had totally given up her former lifestyle and had no one to cater for her needs.

Pastor Melvin left the fellowship gathering where he had been restlessly waiting for Sobrina's arrival, as soon as he received her text. And ran straight to her place.

Sobrina was drunk and crying, sitting on her bed. He resumed preaching to her, trying to encourage her. He told her how he once found himself at the same spot, around when he newly repented. He pleaded so convincingly that he finally got her to clean up and decide to continue in the faith.

Sobrina didn't decide to continue in the faith based on Pastor Melvin's preaching, but for the fact that Pastor Melvin was unrelenting. He had surprised her when he had arrived at her door. She had'nt expected such a reaction. By the time his visit was over, it was almost midnight and he couldn't return to his place in the Campus. He had to pass the night at another member's place, who lived nearby.

She started trying other ways of freeing herself, she began to try seducing him. She would casually lie in suggestive postures during his visits. When it didn't work, she became desperate.

Pastor Melvin invited her to his place one evening. After their discussions which were always centered on the Bible, they began to pray. Sobrina saw an opportunity, she started twisting and turning, making sure she was seductive in the process. She was aware they were alone in his one room apartment, she hoped he would only but lay a hand on her, so she could grab him in the process. But he surprised her by leaving the room instead. He called and invited a female member of the fellowship over, and didn't enter again until the lady arrived. They strongly believed she was possessed by an evil spirit and needed deliverance.

When it was all over, Pastor Melvin sat Sobrina down.

"What spiritual society do you belong to?", he questioned persistently.

"I was initiated into the marine world", Sobrina responded, after few minutes of contemplating. She was actually acting, but she understood she had to be convincing or be disgraced in front of the new comer.

"What is your leader called?",

"Ezinne" which is vernacular for - Good mother. It was a really stupid thing to come up with, but she had not anticipated his next question and had to give him something.

"I met some girls a few years ago at Yankari (a notorious city she was known to constantly visit in the past), and they introduced me into it among many other things", she added.

Sobrina was also crying during the whole conversation, partly because she was afraid she had been discovered, and to appear very convincing.

But by the end of the conversation, she began to really feel sorry for what she had done. Yes, she could see the bulging boner in Pastor Melvin's three quarter shorts, she also understood it was visible enough for the other lady to see. But he had not fallen into her trap, he instead chose to have someone else in the house.

"I am so sorry, so so sorry", Sobrina apologized while in tears, she couldn't say why she was sorry, even though she honestly meant it.

Pastor Melvin and the lady were very satisfied, they thought she was apologizing for keeping the fact that she belonged to a spiritual society a secret, and for this long. The apology worked like icing on a cake, and the event was over.

Sobrina was so amazed by Pastor Melvin's resolve, and the fact that she couldn't under any circumstance seduce him, bought him her total respect.
